I just upgraded my Kubuntu from 17.04 to 17.10 and this is definitely bad suprise :-(

I currently bypassed it using Double Commander and Leafpad instead of Dolphin and Kwrite but this definitely not a change I would appreaciate.

Lie Ryan: If you're running a GUI application as root regularly, you need to be hammered.

Most users should run GUI applications as regular user, and these applications should elevate only to do specific operations as needed. Why do you need to have the entire text editor including GUI libraries, and editor plugins running as root, when all the editor really need is to read and write files with elevated permissions.
