How To Encourage Google Plus Followers

Ouch. The loss of WhatsApp to Facebook is not going to be great for Google's attempts at social networking. User-to-user interaction on Google+ is simply not as popular as Google wants it to be (despite the flashy implied endorsement of it by the U.S. President).

WhatsApp's huge success as a networking app could have given Google a bit more of an edge in that department, but after this swipe and the sudden acquisition of Instagram a couple of years ago, I think Facebook might definitively win the social network market for now. ("Win," in this case, meaning that Google+ would maintain itself as a niche network only.)

But honestly, that would be just a flesh wound for Google. Its more successful power grabs are far larger in scope than are Facebook's; at this point Google is charging into the wilderness of the global corporate-political field, maneuvering to be poised when the right opportunity presents itself. Google and Facebook will struggle again for dominance in one niche or another, but unless Facebook is sneakier than any of us suspect (okay, which is likely), it's not going to be in real competition with Google in that respect.

2. Include source of your post on Twitter if you’re not an author
3. Turn off email notifications when sharing to circles on Google+
4. The last one but not least, learn how to use hashtags!

Been working with HR in my region to 'Unite the Clans', or at least that's what I'm calling it. Many of us work remotely, some full-time, some part-time and two specific commonalities occurred to me:

A. Remote workers can sometimes feel left out.
B. Remote workers often have no idea how many 'peers' they may have within a short distance nor who they are - what they do (role).

The project is to finally engage with those remote neighbors, begin networking, perhaps support one another if possible, have a good time, and help the business overall. The effort should be worth another blog post when I have something formal ready.
