http://zenasium.wordpress.com/ Well-being: staying healthy in modern times
Due to increased stress and carcinogens in the environment, it’s only up to us to be proactive to maintain our health. Sure, you can indulge once in a while. What matters is what we do to ourselves and how you treat your body 70-90% of the time.
It’s a lifestyle…a natural path to living. You feel more energized than ever, and have a clear mind.
Some common sense tips I’ve picked up. Will add whenever I come across more.
# Sleeping before 10 pm produces melatonin hormone for optimized well-being. Sleep in complete darkness.
http://www.doctoroz.com/blog/kulreet-chaudhary-md/sleep-and-longevityhttp://www.doctoryourself.com/ayurveda1.html# contrary to popular belief, tofu is not a must in your health diet. Tofu is highly processed.
# Exposure to some early morning sunlight for 10 minutes each day. There is no real need for sunscreen unless if you are out for a prolonged period.
# Minimize the use of wi-fis in your house/bedroom and turn off your cellphones when you sleep.
# Consider a diet with more vegetables vs meat.
# A variety of colored vegetables in your diet.
# for the cost conscious: what to be taken organic: blueberries, potatoes, carrots, leafy vegetables, strawberries, celery, milk, grass-fed meat. What can be taken non-organic: Avocados (as it has a hard shell)
# have smaller but more meals. Eat and chew slowly…have your meals without distractions and not hurriedly.
# Avoid all white sugar, white rice, white bread, corn syrup in foods, processed meat e.g. sausages etc.
# Read your food labels. If you can’t make out what the ingredients are, leave it.
# naturally, avoid canned foods.
# the method in which the food is being prepared will cause it to be carcinogenic or not. That’s why nature is amazing e.g. the sugars from fruits eaten in its natural form can be broken down naturally by the body as opposed to processed fruit juice.
# Green (vegetable mix) juice is highly recommended over fruit juice as the latter still contains lots of sugar. However, either way, the ‘cold-pressed’ (slow) food juicer is recommended. (the normal blender/fast juicing produces heat which destroys the natural vitamins).
# Avoid most hawker food which is usually greasy, fried or full of simple carbs.
# cut down on white rice.
# add apple cider vinegar to your diet. It can be drunk (add two spoons into a glass of water) or added to salads etc.
# Limit your exposure to exhaust fumes in public places.
# Good ways to handle stress.
