Government Cybersecurity Risks From Faulty Cloud Contracts

As more and more #government  agencies migrate toward #cloudstorage  - #cloudsecurity  is becoming more and more of an issue.

According to a recent report, lots of sensitive #data  is at major risk due to faulty #cloud  contracts. This +Web Host Industry Review has more:

The report selected 77 commercial cloud contracts for review after 19 Offices of Inspector General (OIGs) shared testing results. Based on OIG reports there were 348 commercial cloud contracts with a value of about $12 billion dollars.

Although most commercial cloud contracts included some of the required items not a single one included all of them. Over three-quarters of the contracts failed to meet FedRAMP standards which were required as of June 5th this year. FedRAMP establishes a risk-based approach for federal agencies adopting and using cloud services which includes standardized security requirements.

While we're happy to see more and more government agencies modernize and adopt the cloud, it must be done correctly to avoid potentially major #cybersecurity  risks.

Money to dead people (not zombies, don't get confused), an over-sized federal agency, the incompetence is mind numbing.

It's a fact of life that the bigger the government, the harder it is to effectively manage.
