Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
I had another great view of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve on my way to San Francisco today. I love this time of the year when the valleys are coming to life with color and there is still a good bit of snow in the peaks.

Ratschenhorn East Ridge, Switzerland
This is the view looking back along the ridge route we followed down from the col, with Ratschenhorn hidden in the clouds to the right. We were hiking just inside the Swiss border with Austria here. Its a very scenic hike, but a little more complicated to plan since we ended up in a different valley than the one we started in.
The red flowers are called Alpine Roses, another nice flower that we don't see in Canada.

Colorado Mountains & Lakes
It just doesn't get any better than this. This is Lake San Cristobal near Lake City, Colorado. I love Colorado and this area is simply magnificent. Lake San Cristobal is the second largest natural lake in Colorado and was formed by a massive landslide known as the Slumgullion Earthflow which created a natural dam across the Gunnison River. The slide area is 4 miles long, 2000 feet wide and covers over 1000 acres. It is still moving and can move in some places up to 20 feet per year. You can very easily see where the huge mass of land is constantly moving. The slide area is just to the right of the frame.

Reverse Tetons
I was quite excited to see the Grand Tetons out of my window on my way to Seattle last weekend. This is a view from the opposite direction you usually see in most photos.

Tallulah Gorge State Park
I haven't been camping or exploring the Georgia mountains in quite some time, so I was really happy that I was able to get out and go camping with +John Getchel last weekend. I recently picked up a Rokino 12mm MF lens that I am going to try for some Milky Way shots with eventually, but I thought I'd see how it worked for some daytime shots. I'm blown away by how wide 12mm is compared to my previously widest lens, my Sigma 19mm. This is Tallulah Gorge which we had good timing for as this was an aesthetic release weekend where they were releasing more water than normal from the dam above.
