Diademed Sifaka
This beauty is from Andasibe-Mantadia National Park in Eastern #Madagascar. We hung out with a group of these lemurs for a couple of hours. They are amazing to watch as they jump from tree to tree in the forest, sometimes up to 30 feet or 9 meters away! Unfortunately, these animals are listed as Critically Endangered.

My What Big Teeth You Have...
It is a bit of a mystery to me why hippos need such large and sharp looking teeth since they are herbivores. We came across a large group of hippos just after sunrise one morning and this guy decided to give us a show! Fun Fact: After the elephant and rhinoceros, the hippopotamus is the third largest land mammal. Unfortunately, these animals are listed as vulnerable.

Elephants at Sunset
Sunset is always such a magical time in Africa. Our guides would try to get us to a good spot for our "sun downer" photos and drinks each day. This day, there was a large group of elephants hiking nearby which stirred up the dust and caught the setting sun. From Chitabe Camp in Botswana.

Camel
This guy was resting at the base of the pyramids in Giza, patiently waiting for his nextvictim passenger to come along. FYI, if you've never ridden a camel before, it is the most awkward process ever to successfully get on and then off of his back when he is in a sitting position like below!

Cute but Wet
During one of our game drives, we came across a Cheetah family. The mother was keeping a close eye on these three cubs. They were moving away from us and had to cross a small stream. These cubs were a little slower than mom and didn't appear to enjoy being wet - but they sure were cute!

What are you up to?
One afternoon as we were heading back from our game drive, we came across a pride of lions that were mostly napping. Looked like they had finished a wildebeest earlier in the day. Our guide suggested we hang out for a little while to see if they might stir and move on. Sure enough, less than 10 minutes later they started waking and greeting each other. This lioness seemed to be checking on what everyone else was up to. It was a thrilling moment as some of the lions came within a couple of feet of our open jeep!

Distant Stare
These beautiful animals have the most intent stare when they are scanning the horizon for prey. They can also drape themselves in the most uncomfortable looking places up in the tall trees, but seem to be able to lay there for hours on end. Leopards were one of the highlights of our safari. This beauty is from Londolozi Camp and Preserve next to Kruger National Park in South Africa.
