(P.S. Cops were not as enthused)Photo: Island Park, NY Slab sank after Hurricane Sandy. Insurance, building inspector and other contractors said to just pour over the old slab. We Disagreed and we were right. We cut out sample holes and found that The earth had sank 2-4 inches below slab. If they poured over the whole thing would sink again. We had to rip up the whole slab and pour it again. Even added 2 new footings to ensure a stable house. Sometimes it pays to hire someone who knows their work.Photo: Island Park, NY Slab sank after Hurricane Sandy. Insurance, building inspector and other contractors said to just pour over the old slab.
