Photo: Photo: Internet Connectivity is go!

Been away from G+ for a little bit as I've just moved to a new apartment.  It's been a long and tiring process, and the fact that my new place is beside Kanpachi-dori (a busy and NOISY road, even at night), compounded the stress.  (I now hate motorcycles with a passion, at least those riders who feel the need to gun their engines repeatedly in the middle of the night)

I'm still unpacking my stuff, but I finally got my internet connection up and running today, so I'm back online at least :)

Had the chance to hang out with some friends that I hadn't seen in a long time last Saturday, and later that evening headed to Asakusa to catch the end of the "Tokyo Hotaru" festival.

The glowing lights in the river are created by LED's that float downriver, simulating fireflies (don't worry, the lights are later caught in a net downriver, so there is no harm to the environment).  It's a pretty sight, though the crowds of viewers make it tough to move around...

It's good to be back online, and I should be posting more (at least once I get more of my stuff unpacked).  Good night from Tokyo!

Between work and apartment-hunting, I seem to have less and less time to work on my photos, which gives me the sads :(

This image was taken on a weekend trip to the Mt. Fuji area a short while back with +adithya anand , +Agustin Rafael Reyes , +Jason Arney , +Meg Y. , and +Tim Buerger .  We'd hoped to get a once-a-year image of the sunrise over Mt. Fuji, but cloudy skies prevented us from getting anything more than a peek of the mountain.

Still, despite zero-degree temperatures, staying awake all night, and missing the sunrise, I still got some shots from the trip I was happy with.

This was one of them.  :)

For the near future (at least until I find a new place and move by middle of May), I guess my post rate is going to continue to be fairly slow, but I'll be around!

Good night from Tokyo folks.

Another shot from the #GPlus2YearAnniversary  photowalk, this was taken at Nezu shrine.

Stood at this point for quite a while, waiting for the people to go away, and the fish to swim into view (most of them were huddled in the shadows).

Still, due to the time of day (around 4PM), the light was pretty harsh, and the image felt pretty "flat", so I messed around with the film filters in Color Efex Pro to try and make things pop a little.  I don't usually do that, but it's fun to do on occasion.  Couldn't do much about the blown out sky though :(

Off to work, it's Friday!

An early morning shot of Lake Kawaguchi - I'd gone out around 0530 with my mother to photograph Mt. Fuji (those images turned out to be fairly average, but I may post it later anyway), but my favorite shot of the morning ended up being of the lake, shot quickly as we were walking back for breakfast.

Still a little early (about 4.5hrs left to go here in Tokyo), but since I'll be away from a computer, I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year now :)

I've been away from G+ for a bit again, too much other stuff to work on, but I've enjoyed all the images I've seen here over the year, and am grateful for all the friendships and interactions I've made.

I wish you all the best for 2014!
(and have a safe and enjoyable/restful/happy new year's eve)

See you in 2014!  :)

Went out last Saturday evening to shoot around my neighborhood.  I had planned to do long exposures of trains (which I did take), but this, the unplanned shot, ended up being more interesting for me.

I probably wouldn't have taken this shot if it weren't for Gioppi tagging me in some #5dayquest  .  I ended up shooting for 5 days in a row, but the weekend shots (in other words, this and Sundays shots) were the best, which is a bit of a bummer because it means I started out strong but finished on a weak note (^^;

It was still fun though :)

Good night from Tokyo!

This was actually shot during the G+ 3 year anniversary photowalk, but I wanted to put it in its own post, rather than lumping it together with my other shots from that day (^^;

I almost didn't get this shot - just as I was preparing to shoot, it started raining, ruining the reflection in the water.  I started walking away, but after a few seconds, I noticed the rain was already starting to taper off, so I retraced my steps, set my camera as low as I could (without actually dipping it in the water), and fired off a couple frames.  Kinda like how it turned out :)

Goodnight from Tokyo!
