Photo: OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Photo: Graduation Spring 2011 - Commencement Address (walked...now just have to defend!!!)Photo: saw this one and figured it should be added to the mix...Photo: Presentation to NOAA National Director Dr. Jane Lubchenco (Under Secretary for Commerce and Oceans) and Deputy Under Secretary Mary Glackin. Probably the first NOAA Director in history to hold a Cuban gar!--Photo: Rachel knows why this is hilarious.Photo: Later the same week - Series of presentations to the NOAA Science Advisory Board (SAB) members. Demo included feeding some of the specimens--Photo: Bowfin at The Tank...kind of looks like that turtle creature that was also a mountain in The Neverending Story...Photo: - Presentations to NOAA SAB Members.Photo: Partial shot of the group gathered to see the infamous "feeding of the lungfish" at a Tank Party...Photo: My photo of a spotted gar on the cover of Genetics; photo was associated with an article by colleagues involving new gene sequencing technology using the spotted gar as a model species. This specimen was collected during field sampling by myself and Richard Kik IV in Summer 2009. First time a gar has been on the cover of a major scientific journal!!!Photo: Photo Credit: Dave Brenner - From 2010 SNRE New Student Orientation at the U-M Biostation - I helped lead the electrofishing sections (we caught the biggest fish!)Photo: Caption for photo from Genetics journal table of contents. Now to get things published IN the journals!!!--Photo: Last ride with Ruby before taking her back to her real home. Will miss having her at The Tank (other than the roommates we only tend to keep scaly, cold-blooded creatures in the compound).--Photo: Fish Heads Volleyball Team Pyramid - organized by Emily Chi at the end of the regular season (we finished with the most wins in both divisions!) Onward to the indoor season!--Photo: Presentation to NOAA National Director Dr. Jane Lubchenco (Under Secretary for Commerce and Oceans) and Deputy Under Secretary Mary Glackin. Of course all the photos catch me mid-sentence...since I tend to talk a lot. One of the best parts of chatting with them was Dr Lubchenco saying "gars are really cool fish!" before I even got into the details!--
