The Afghan national sport, outlawed during the Taliban regime, originated centuries ago in Central Asia and is held throughout the northern parts, especially in Kunduz and Mazar-I-Sharif, from late October to March every year. Before the Soviet occupation in 1979, the buzkashi winning teams came to Kabul to play in front of King Zahir Shah in honour of his birthday. Zu seinen weiteren Werken gehören u.a. Dezember 1942 in Griffen (Kärnten) geboren.墽概瘒㈄႕堟⏛秸壆姹ἪǮ建ᶽᳪ˙྽᱑྽ȚPhoto: Photo: Photo: Photo: Photo: Pristina, SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO: Austrian author Peter Handke visits the Serb Orthodox Church of Sveti Stefan in the village of Velika Hoca, some 60km west from Pristina, 08 April 2007. PRESS ASSOCIATION Photo. Picture date: Tuesday August 15, 2006. The Bagot goat, which has only 80 registered breeding nanny goats left, is as close to extinction as the black rhino or the Sumatran orangutan. The history of Bagot goats dates back to the 1380s, when the breed was introduced to Blithfield Hall in Staffordshire. It is thought they were brought back to England by the returning crusaders. Some were given to Sir John Bagot - who was at Blithfield - by King Richard II in recognition of a good day's hunting. See PA story ANIMALS Goat.
