Photo: The weekend before we left Italy, we drove from Bologna to Rome. Our friend Frank was joining a tour there, and we were overnighting before flying from Rome to Sicily the next day.

We stopped in Deruta, a small town that specializes in ceramic art. Chris and I have been there several times now, we had a couple of gifts we wanted to buy, and we wanted to say hello to a few of our favorite artists there, especially Franco and Rita Mari and Marcella Favaroni and her husband Cipriano Bugiantella (Miriam Ceramiche, http://www.ceramichemiriam.it/).

One of our favorite places to eat in Italy!Photo: After depositing Frank in a cab, Chris and I walked back to our hotel from Elle Effe after dinner, with stops at Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain along the way. The Trevi Fountain was cleaned recently and is magnificent, especially at night.Photo: Not Photoshopped, I swear!Photo: View from the rooftop garden of our hotel in RomePhoto: Chris, rooftop garden, Hotel Mozart, Roma
