Photo: Our next gullwing concept car debuted in 1991, the mid-engine C112. Like its predecessor, it never went into production, but kept the alphanumeric names going while testing and refining new technologies like improved ABS systems, anti-skid control, what’s known now as Active Body Control, plus active aerodynamics.
Photo: Again, taking after the C111, the C112 was fast too, sporting a mid-mounted 408-hp 6.0-liter V-12.
Photo: Then in 2010, the production gullwing came back in full force, and we do mean full force, with the SLS AMG.
Photo: Under that long hood is the M156 engine, a hand-built 6.3-liter V-8 as famous for its guttural, thunderous roar as it is for its stupendous 563-hp.
Photo: You won’t often see all four of our gullwings in one place, but here they are.
