This may not be a big deal to some people, but it is a huge deal to me. Here's why.
I've been on Google Plus for about a year and a half now. My follower count has grown fairly steadily, but my engagement has been fairly nil. My reshares were almost non-existent, and my articles would generate pluses, but usually around 5-10.
Then Martin Shervington Published This: http://tehanna.pw/1mvpAtt
So, I started doing it. That was February 24. I was at 1,512 followers. I tweaked the circles that +martin shervington discussed in that article to be specific to my niche, but I essentially focused on five things.
1. I found the influencers in my niche sharing content similar to mine
2. I used ripples to identify the people resharing their content
3. I circled these people as prospects and began engaging with them
4. I started using a lot more images in my posts
5. I started curating more content from others than I was sharing of my own
The result? It took m a year and a half to hit 1500 followers, and in just a month I went from 1500 to 2000. Wow.
More Importantly: My engagement spiked. My curated content was being engaged with regularly, but my own articles and branded graphics especially saw the lift. Instead of maybe a reshare or two and less then ten plusses, I was seeing 5-15 reshares and 40-50 pluses. A few of my graphics grabbed momentum and broke 100 pluses. My site started seeing a swell in traffic as well, and some of the Google Plus engagement even began to spill over into other platforms such as twitter and facebook.
So all of that to say... Wow. Thank you +martin shervington, +Mark Traphagen, and +Dustin W. Stout. This past month has been tremendously exciting, and you three are the reason.
