Walk the beach, read a book, forget about internet (he-he :)...

"How to live on an Island:
Go with the wind, walk tender, respect, leave no wake, tune up your senses, build castles and leave them for the moon to find, discover treasure, remember yourself, keep off the reef, ebb and flow, wait for sunsets, listen in on shells, put living things back, cultivate quiet, practice simplicity, sugar yourself with sand, float on crystal clear water, and treasure the moments that take your breath away...continue...”
Photo: Conch
(pronounced 'konk') is a common name for this large marine snail.
They are plant eaters and can live as long as 25 years.
Still plenty of them here, in the Bahamas and they are an important food source for people.
We put this one back in the ocean as we wasn't "fishing" (and I have no practice in cleaning them:)
Photo: Manatees are not native to the Bahamas and are typically found in freshwater, brackish and saltwater habitats in Florida.
In the summer Manatees can travel vast distances. It is also possible that an animal from the Florida stock of manatees got caught in a current, and was carried into the Bahamas across the Gulf Stream.
There are only a handful of manatees around the Berry Islands where is not that much naturally occurring fresh water but enough vegetation to feed on.
These animals are in the wild and will swim and play with people if they feel like it
(not that they have a lot of chance to do so as there are just a handful of people as well :)
