Another photo of the sand dunes of Death Valley. This is the eastern end of Mesquite Flat Dunes in Death Valley National Park, CA. My previous black and white sand dune photo was taken from this same spot:

Photo: Inside Hagia Sophia, Istanbul

With this interior photo of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey I tried to capture the scale of this gigantic structure. But even with my wide-angle lens, you're only seeing a small corner of this remarkable building. The Hagia Sophia is an interesting mix of Christian and Muslim art and architecture since it was first a Byzantine church, then an Ottoman mosque, and now a museum, and has been rebuilt multiple times. When I was there, much of the interior was being restored.
I posted this photo by special request from +betsy barber.
Photo: Cross-Country Skiing Panorama in Canmore

Andy took Katie, Joe, and I cross-country skiing when we visited him in Canada around the time of his graduation. It was a beautiful day in the Canadian Rockies, and though I fell a lot, I really enjoyed skiing. This is where we ate lunch.
Photo: Storybook Land in Real Life - Lake Como Villa, Italy

Famed Lake Como (north of Milan in Italy) boasts amazing villas like this along its fingered shoreline. We felt like we were on the Storybook Land canal boat ride at Disneyland as we passed many luxurious Italian villas on our way to the town of Bellagio. Yes, we did see the well-known villa that belongs to George Clooney, but it didn't look as impressive from Lake Como as this one.

The last golden light before sunset makes for a beautiful shot of the koi pond in Balboa Park near the arboretum.
