Photo: Today was the beginning of our Fall Break. We had to be up early to head to Mads Parent Teacher Conference. I had a lot of questions going into the conference. At home Mads has been struggling with not wanting to read. After talking with her teacher we learned that she is an excellent student and is actually ahead in not only reading but also math and word recognition! AWESOME! To celebrate I took the girls to breakfast then headed to Walmart to pick up a few things to make some cupcakes.Photo: I noticed a few weeks ago Cool Whip has come out with a new Frosting! I like using Cool Whip as a base for some of the frosting's I currently make so I was excited to try it.Photo: Before heading over to the Frozen Foods section where the #CoolWhipFrosting is located I needed to pick up a few things. Top on my list, vitamins. I like the Gummy Vitamins the best, they don't have that yucky vitamin taste. I get the kids a gummy version as well, they love them!Photo: I am in the market for a new hairdryer so we headed to that department next. I decided to wait and look at a few other stores before I made my final decision.Photo: We always HAVE to stop and look at all the pretty nail polish. I think we have about every color ever made but, we always get a new color anyway.Photo: I noticed this as we were making our way over to the frozen foods. I have never seen this before. It looks kind of interesting, almost like a pre-paid card without all of the fees. I will have to go back and see if I can figure out what it is all about.Photo: I was looking for caramel sauce but found this instead! I LOVE Starbucks Hot Cocoa but have not tried the home version yet, maybe next time.Photo: I needed to pick up some pecans for our cupcakes. I noticed every other package did not have a price listed, I thought that was kind of odd.Photo: This is exactly the section we have been looking for!Photo: I noticed the new frosting right away! The packaging is so colorful, I love it! I also noticed all of the Cool Whip was on Rollback for $0.97, that's a good price!Photo: Awesome price! They must be gearing up for Thanksgiving, I always find the best deals on Cool Whip around Thanksgiving.Photo: I decided to get the Cream Cheese and the Chocolate Cool Whip Frosting. I knew I wanted to make German Chocolate Cupcakes (with a twist) but I was not sure the girls would go for the nuts and pecans. This is why I also picked up the Cream Cheese Frosting.Photo: Our Walmart has such an awesome selection of frozen pies, they all look so good!Photo: My shopping buddies! Doesn't MG look so sweet and shy in this picture? HA! She was being such a stinker! We were all at our wits end by this point, I think I sprinted to the check out after I took this pic. We were ready to be out of that store, it was nap time!Photo: While the girls chilled on the couch and watched Snow White, I whipped up the cupcakes. I like using a scoop to fill my cups with batter. It makes it so much easier! I can get about 2.5 cups filled with one scoop.Photo: Chocolate cupcakes are my favorite, well ok that is a lie. I have never met a cupcake that was not my favorite. lol But Chocolate is for sure at the top of my list!Photo: Since I was making German Chocolate Cupcakes (with a twist) I needed to toast some coconut. I know the "normal" way is to put it on a baking sheet and toast it in your oven. I have found it is MUCH easier to toast coconut in a pan on the stove. Just make sure you stir constantly, it only takes about 5 minutes.Photo: Once the cupcakes were cooled, I topped with the Chocolate Cool Whip Frosting and then topped that with my take on the classic German Chocolate Cake Topping.Photo: The extra chocolate was AWESOME! After trying both the Chocolate and the Cream Cheese Cool Whip Frosting, I have decided the Chocolate is my favorite. It was so creamy and perfectly chocolaty and just YUM!Photo: The true test though was if the girls would eat it. MG took one look and ran right back out of the kitchen. Mads though......Photo: Well, Mads got a bit of the Chocolate Frosting on her hand and had to lick it off.Photo: She thought the cupcake was pretty but was not sure about eating it.Photo: Then she got some on her thumb.Photo: It passed the "smell" test! YAY!Photo: I think she liked it! lol Actually, she thought it was REALLY good!Photo: After her initial bite she dug right in and the cupcake was gone in about 10 seconds!Photo: We are so proud of you baby girl and are happy to celebrate all of your success, big and small.Photo: I am a member of the Collective Bias™ Social Fabric® Community.
