- Better than the Hoeryong Gulag, but not by much. The food was mostly rats and snakes like the Hoeryong, but here they were actually cooked. All in all, the food was slightly better than what my wife makes at home so I can't complain there. Most of the daily activities included more of what I would call forced labor, only this time we were out in the fields gathering crops. When I asked about a spa they took us into a room where they said I would receive a world class massage. Instead someone came out and proceeded to whip us. Little did they know that I'm into that sort of thing. My Uncle Charlie on the other hand, wasn't and was hospitalized for the rest of our stay. Overall it was another week at an awful Gulag resort. I would avoid this chain/franchise if at all possible when visiting North Korea; they simply do not know how to treat their paying customers.
