Food Excellent Decor Excellent Service Very good - Brenda's is THE brunch location in downtown San Francisco. Additionally, since the recent renovation the decor is greatly improved and the once horrific lines (sometimes close to a 2hr wait) are dramatically reduced. Things not to miss: the grillades and gravy. The biscuits are the best I've had in the bay area and are always accompanied by amazing homemade jams. Finally, why mostly everyone comes... the beignets! If you want light, fluffy, and sugary beignets, I actually prefer Just For You cafe, but if you want authentic french beignets, Brenda's is for you. The two standouts to me are the chocolate beignet which is made with Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate, and the savory crawfish beignet, though I would recommend the full flight of four beignets (which also includes classic sugar coated and a cinnamon/apple filled beignet.)

Food Excellent Decor Excellent Service Excellent - Park Tavern is a welcome reprieve from the myriad Italian restaurants in North Beach. The food is excellent and decor is among my favorite in the bay area. It is modern while still feeling functional, and most importantly, you don't feel crammed into the space. I don't know why, but I am obsessed with the wall paper used in the back room and bathrooms. Everything just feels so well done. As far as the food, it is a funny mix of a menu. There are some very southern things such as the best deviled eggs I've ever had and fried brussel sprouts, along with other high french fare such as a crab and lobster bisque. While eclectic, it doesn't feel gimmicky.

Food Excellent Decor Good Service Good - I'm a huge fan of Patxi's pizza. I routinely flip back and forth between Patxi's and Little Star as to who has the best deep dish in the city (for the record I think Zachary's in Berkeley beats them both.) Don't expect much as far as ambiance, but why would you from a pizza place. The wait is long, about 45 min after you order, but it is totally worth it. The tomato sauce is so succulent and delicious it makes every one of their pizzas sing.

Food Excellent Decor Excellent Service Excellent - I've now eaten at Frances twice and can say it is definitely my favorite restaurant in the city. What I love about Frances is that the food is impeccably prepared but not overworked. All of Chef Perello's culinary decisions seem centered around letting each ingredient reach its fullest potential. Many people will tell you that it is impossible to get a table at Frances, but if you are in the neighborhood they leave a few seats unreserved at the front of the restaurant and if you are willing to wait you can probably snag a table. It is a bit of a crap shoot, but definitely worth a try. Highlights for me are the bacon beignets (a perfect combination of my two favorite things in this world) and the duck liver mousse, which may be the best appetizer I've ever had in my life. It was flawless!

- I have now had two incredible meals at Aziza. The cocktail program is great, I highly recommend the celery, sage, agave and gin cocktail. Other highlights include the duck bastiya which is out of this world! Great spot for dates, but doesn't have to be romantic. This is definitely one of my favorite spots in the city.

Food Very good Decor Good Service Very good - Slow Club is a great little restaurant tucked away in a no man's land between the Mission and Potrero. The dishes are solid (the charcuterie is a favorite) and the menu is constantly changing. I have always been impressed by the drinks program at Slow Club. It isn't too expansive, but rather just a well-done selection of a lot of classic cocktails. The decor is a bit sparse, and due to the lack of any fabric, it can get quite loud.

Food Very good Decor Very good Service Very good - Chow is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. The food is consistently good and the quality ingredients elevate staple dishes like a chicken sandwich or fish tacos to a more refined level.

Food Very good Decor Very good Service Very good - Boxing Room is a welcome addition to the restaurant scene in SF. Fried Chicken does not have to be fancied up in order to be good and "gourmet," and they that here, serving it with sumptuous giblet gravy for an authentic flavor and preparation. That said, the two standouts of our meal were Jambalaya with Duck and the Roasted Banana split with bourbon ice cream, which is easily one of the best desserts I've had in the entire city.
