Quality Excellent Appeal Very good Service Excellent - Harrods is probably the best place in London to just wander, get lost and marvel at the fare on offer. The staff are extremely helpful and ever-smiling. The wares are expensive, but top quality. On my last trip I spent 3 hours just browsing through the food stalls - everywhere else was too crowded. Apparently the Pharaohs in the Egyptian Room are modeled in the likeness of Mohammed al-Fayed. Tip: Unless you're after something specific, don't bother with the maps.

- probably the 2nd best burger joint in NYC. The Shack Stack is just the right mix of meat and veggie (mushroom). I'll never fathom root beer though - stick to the Lemonade or the Arnold Palmer (lemonade + ice tea).

Quality Excellent - quicker to check-in than the Eurostar, and free WiFi. Wish all airports were as efficient.

Appeal Excellent Facilities Very good Service Very good - The BFI is a must for cinephiles, be it for the Mediatheque (where you log on at a free viewing station and enjoy film and television classics from the BFI National Archive), the Reuben Library which has one of the world's biggest collections of written material on film and television, the annual London Film Festival or just celebrity spotting. The BFI often run interesting retrospectives too (currently one on Ealing Studios). The outdoor cafe is a great place for people watching in the summer months. The exterior of the building is slightly dated and could do with some modernisation.

Appeal Excellent Facilities Very good Service Poor to fair - The O2 arena is London's top venue for Live entertainment - 23000 seats and you're safe from British weather. I've seen Beyonce, Aerosmith, Pet Shop Boys, Rihanna and Bon Jovi live here - and each of these was better than the one before. The acoustics are well designed, and the central space can be adapted - it was also used for Olympic events. The rest of the old Millennium dome is taken up by IndiGo2 (a smaller performance venue), a Cinema, a variety of restaurants (some good, most awful, all charging a premium) - and a dodgy nightclub (Thai Silk?). Only negatives for me were the staff at security (very rude), and the prices you pay for food/ drink during a concert. Hint: If you're travelling to Central London, take the Thames Clipper from Greenwich Pier next door.

Quality Excellent Appeal Excellent Service Very good - One New Change isn't inexpensive, but it's just perfect for a lunchtime wander and the occasional impulse buy. Good choices for casual lunch (Nando's), weeknight dinners (Barbecoa) and Sunday Brunches (Bread Street Kitchen).
