So this idea was kind of inspired by chapter 3 of someone else's fanfic (google won't let me tag them) but it was kind of my own idea as well. So I had the idea for Zootopia: Dark Reflections for Finnick to go savage and attack Nick, and Nick was forced to kill him. Should I implement this as another motive or no?

Hi guys. I was doing some brainstorming again and I decided that I'm going to start Chapter 3 of Howls in the Night with Howl having a nightmare about the day his partner Richard died. Only thing is, there might be some gore involved. Not too much because this is a Zootopia fanfic and I'll be keeping the fic fairly clean, but I thought I should give you guys a head's up so you know what to expect. Sound okay?

Gary Goldman, an established screenwriter with credits that include Total Recall and Big Trouble in Little China, filed a lawsuit in federal court this week against The Walt Disney Company, alleging the studio’s 2016 hit Zootopia was based on his own project, also titled Zootopia. In 2009, Goldman was working with Disney executive Brigham Taylor on a project called Blaze. By that time, Goldman had further developed his Zootopia project and pitched Taylor on his idea. Goldman gave Taylor copies of his character descriptions, illustrations, and treatment, and Taylor said he would approach the studio’s animation departments to review the project.

According to Goldman, shortly thereafter, Disney put into development its own Zootopia project, but did not compensate Goldman for any of his work.

To prove a copyright claim, a plaintiff must show ownership of the work claimed to be infringed upon, substantial similarity between the protected work and the infringing work, and that the defendant had access to the protected work. The guild registration could prove ownership, and the pitches to Hoberman and Taylor could prove access. Most copyright cases, though, hinge on whether works are “substantially similar.”

Goldman claims that both the “Goldman Zootopia” and the “Disney Zootopia” address the themes of prejudice, self-definition, and whether individual goals can be obtained in a diverse society, using the metaphor of diverse species. Do you think he is right or wrong

Do you think animals in Zootopia are omnivores, or just eat their respective things? (prey only eating plants, predators only eating meats)

(This is just my personal opinion. You can think what you want.)

As you may know, the animated movie Zootopia drew questions regarding the fact that there were nearly no animals other than mammals that were seen in the movie. Later, the director, Byron Howard, stated that they were left out, either as a source of doo for the mammals, or due to them not being able to fit in the social hierarchy of prey and predator very well. Some people seem to want these animals to be included as either living alongside mammals in Zootopia or in separate cities in future material. Let me tell you what I personally think.

No. That is not a good idea. At most, non-mammal entities should be non-sentient, not having evolved with the mammals.

As Byron Howard has said earlier, the animals that weren’t mammals were deliberately left out, due to their not being able to fit into the hierarchy (‘Prey’ birds like robins still eat worms and insects, fish eat zooplankton, and nearly all frogs and lizards are insectivores).

Building on this, if sentient reptiles and birds were to appear in future films, not only would it mess up the original idea of the predator-prey divide. Plus, it would be nearly impossible to explain their absence in the original film. There is the possibility that they’re from other cities, but that can be dropped, too.

If you look at Zootopia's Official Tumblr page, or the Facebook page, you will note that there are various parodies to multiple locations in the world. Not only does this rule out Zootopia being in a completely different world from ours, but it also means, with the parodies all referring to mammal features, their likely aren’t birds or reptiles that are sentient in those parts either. Not unless the other animals have colonized Africa or parts of Asia. But this is also unlikely, since, with the amount of technology present in Zootopia, they have probably already been globalized.

Finally, people think that Zootopia and Robin Hood might take place in the same universe. Byron Howard threw this out in a twitter chain reply in one of his tweets, and later when he answered questions. And there were animals other than mammals in Robin Hood, so, at the very least, that takes off some chance of us seeing gators getting pawpsicles from shady foxes in the future.

But even if the producers do decide that, despite the confusion and questions that would arise from additional types of animals being placed in, there is one final reason they probably would be better off leaving just sentient mammals.

It would make the movie UNIQUE. To explain, just about every single animal movie has multiple types of animals being sentient, and this possibly leaves questions behind (what do they eat, who do they use as test subjects for scientific experiments regarding animals, etc.). Making Zootopia stay a ‘mammals-only’ party would make it stick out more than it already does, as something unique (if you don't believe this, try naming another animal movie that only has one specific animal type as sentient.)

That concludes my editorial. Have a nice day.

So for my newest fanfic, Zootopia: Dark Reflections, I had an idea. The idea was that Nick and Judy from the original universe would arrive during an intense battle, and Judy would meet her evil self face to face. The problem, is I don't know if I should do it or not.
Should I?
