Seeing New Things With Old Friends

This weekend, I had the honour and delight of the company of my best friend, Fie, and her boyfriend Paul. I love showing my friends around to various parts of the Lake District. This time we enjoyed a wander around the gorge created by Aira Force, one of the Lake District’s more famous waterfalls. Here's the story and technical info behind this photo -> https://goo.gl/g5cTLq

Humble Peace

On the edge of the Lake District, high up on a hill, overlooking the Lyth Valley and all the Lakeland fells beyond, is a small church. Welcome to St. John’s Helsington Church! See the story and technical info of this shot here -> https://goo.gl/0L4kwP

Early Start

I know I have done a this view a few times before (to say the least), this is the last time for now I promise. As most of you know, this is Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK.

For the photographers amongst you :-

Camera - Nikon D7100
Lens - Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Exposure - 124 seconds
Aperture - f/11
ISO - 100
RAW image processed in - Lightroom CC
Other info - the image was cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio - split toning was used in the highlights - I used a colour brush & radial filter to dodge & burn and match the split toning colour

Thank you for all your kindness throughout my latest Scarborough posts all, the early mornings really were worth while ;)

Dreams

I am off work until next week but looking after and entertaining a small boy!

On and off I have been processing and messing with time-lapse all day today, it really does take time and this is one reason not everyone does time-lapse photography.

I shoot each frame, (usually 3 or 4 hundred at a time) in fully manual with both the d3200 & d7100, altering exposure every x number of minutes as the light changes. This is the correct way to shoot time-lapse but due to me not being able to afford Lr Timelapse, my finished videos have flicker on exposure change. Bloody money! ;)

This image was taken at Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK. The image was taken with my Nikon D7100 and Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 (no surprise there). A 10 stop ND was also used to slow the shutter speed.

Right - back to the time-lapse!!

Rain Shower

Beautiful light will always been beautiful light, so when a cloud opened above me and put a few spots of April shower on my lens, I did not worry or wipe the lens. I could have removed the spots of rain and flare in post production but decided to the leave the image almost as it was shot.

This is of course Scarborough in North Yorkshire, England.

Time & Tide

Hello all, I'm back from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK, we had a lovely time. In the end the weather was kind, just 1/2 a days rain out of 3 days.

I have just finished zapping 71gb of RAW files from 3 x SD cards to an external storage drive on my desktop here in the PC room. The shots were done on both the Nikon D7100 & D3200, a large amount of shots taken will be made into time-lapse video, but I have a few images to share also of course.

Enjoy the week all. I look forward to sharing more images with you as I process them. Kind regards ..

Its Just Water Under The Bridge

One of the newest additions to my Yorkshire Dales waterfall catalogue is Ure Force: a delightful series of cascades running through narrowed limestone until the River Ure reaches this point and tumbles over a scar directly underneath Yore Bridge. All in all, an idyllic Yorkshire scene. =) https://goo.gl/aZCfl1

Ure Force, Upper Wensleydale, Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England.

ISO100, ƒ/14, 1.2secs at 14mm (21mm full-frame equiv.) using a slim circular polariser (to reduce glare from the water) and a hard 2-stop ND grad filter (to darken the sky) stacked on my Sigma dp0 Quattro. This is a single exposure with additional blending help from a lighter and darker exposure. Processed in Sigma Photo Pro, edited in Photoshop.

The Beck Over The Tunnel

Today was a nice day! After a bit of milling about around Hawes, +Lisabet Woods-Jack and I took the Blea Moor Road towards the Ribblehead Viaduct for a hike up the eastern flank of Whernside, known as Winterscales Pasture. Up there one can find an unexpectedly spectacular anonymous waterfall, which we took compositions of. Coming back down the moor you follow the winding beck of Force Gill that, at this point in the image, actually crosses over a railway tunnel! Gorgeous light complemented the scene with Ingleborough looming in the distance. https://goo.gl/1vlrxT

ISO100, ƒ/11, ¼sec at 14mm (21mm full-frame equiv.) using a slim circular polariser and a hard 2-stop ND grad filter stacked on my Sigma dp0 Quattro. This is a single exposure, processed in Sigma’s Photo Pro, edited and graded in Photoshop.
