ISO 22301 Business Continuity Library

Since this community is interested in business continuity, perhaps some of you would enjoy our Plain English ISO 22301 Library. If you visit our library, you'll find clear BCM definitions, introductions, overviews, and explanations. And all of this is free of ads and you don't have to register for a course or buy anything.

As most of you know, ISO 22301 is a new international BCM standard. It is used to ensure that operations continue and that products and services are delivered at predefined levels, that brands and value-creating activities are protected, and that the reputations and interests of key stakeholders are safeguarded whenever disruptive incidents occur.

An interesting question cropped up on LinkedIn today which asked whether pandemic specific plans are a thing of the past and whether BCPs should be broad enough to cover pandemics without the requirement for specific pandemic plans.

It's an interesting question: the standard advice is that business continuity plans shouldn't be scenario based but should be capable of being used for any incident. However... maybe there need to be exceptions to the rule? Maybe a pandemic situation requires some very specific responses and therefore requires its own specific contingency plans which sit alongside the BC plans?
Certainly the threat is still very real from both natural and manufactured (bioterrorism) sources.

Any comments?

One of the things that came out of a recent survey that we conducted was that quite a few business continuity professionals saw the process of producing the business continuity plan as much more important than the plan itself. Any thoughts on that?
