In the half-light of 5 a.m., I kiss my baby's soft, pink cheek.  She should be the one crying her eyes out at this hour. Instead, it's me who's sobbing.  She doesn't flinch at my kiss, and she sleeps peacefully while I sneak off, toss my suitcase into the car and head to the airport for a flight to Berlin.
