If you find yourself in or near Lincoln, Nebraska (or, less likely, Seward, Nebraska), and you’re a fan of wine, we’d recommend a trip to Junto. From the ambiance to the service to the wine, it’s a unique experience, and one we look forward to having again.

Brownville, Nebraska, is something special, one of the few like it left in our ever-modernizing country, and, at least in our opinion, Whiskey Run Creek is the best of its many, wonderful attractions.

Just outside of Hartington in Nebraska’s upper east corner, along Scenic Byway 12, better known as “The Outlaw Trail,” a somewhat grandiose new tasting room sits atop a hill, overlooking a lush green vineyard and several neighboring farms. Planted in 2003 and first opened in 2006, the Nissen Winery is the realization of a dream for the Nissen brothers, Tim and David.

What Ed Swanson and +Cuthills Vineyards has to offer is far more than most wineries could ever hope to share. It isn't just the wonderful wines Ed is making, but Ed himself that makes the place special. If you make the mistake of hurrying through, you'll miss out on the wisdom and experience of the man who is responsible for the birth of the wine industry in Nebraska, a man whose talent and advice is still widely sought after today by his peers in the industry. While his hybrids continue to revolutionize the growing industry, Ed remains willing to walk the vines with visitors, and to educate others about the craft that he has mastered. Ed's isn't the fanciest tasting room, nor is it the easiest to access from I-80, but it is the place where we've learned the most in all our travels, as well as the place where we've tasted some of the very best of wines. If you're looking for a genuine Nebraska wine experience, Nebraska's first winery is where we'd send you. -ITheeWine

The wines at +Wunderrosa Winery are actually crafted by Ed Swanson, the famous vintner and grape breeder, and proprietor of +Cuthills Vineyards. In light of this, it was no surprise that WudnerRosa's wines were indeed so very good. We hope to return to try more of their reds when there is a larger selection and encourage you to pay them a visit as well. And if you swing by, be sure to give Max a little pat on the head or a belly rub. It's hard work being a winery dog you know!

The best part of having local winery reviewers is that they discover the most interesting things.  For example, how about quality Syrah and sparkling wine being produced in Nebraska?  Check out I Thee Wine's review of +Soaring Wings Vineyard for the details!
