Red-chested Cuckoo. These birds have long tails and are dark grey in color. Females have paler rufous breasts, often barred grey. They are brood parasites meaning they will lay their eggs in other birds' nests. They target species like Robin-chats, thrushes, Flycatchers and Wagtails. Their Afrikaans name is Piet My Vrou, (directly translated will mean Peet my wife, which also points to the deceitfulness of this bird) from the male call that is a wiet, weet, weow.
