Tip 30/50: Curate & Streamline Circles for Awesome News Streams
You are the master of your own post feed. Only you can create an experience you truly want to keep coming back to!

One of Google+'s most innovative features is Circles which means you can create individual streams of content from different types of people, rather than one long feed of jumbled up posts like Facebook. (If you are lumping anyone and everyone into one or two circles you are doing it wrong!)

You can create as many different topical circles as you like (max 5000) with your own custom labels based on your individual interests, and group the people you follow into any one of these, or across multiple circles if you so wish.

You can then click into any of the custom streams (located just below the search bar when on the Google+ home screen) as and when you like to get highly relevant posts on your interests.

It is up to you to cultivate (add people) & preen (move/remove people) your circles as you see fit over time to sculpt a brilliant, absorbing G+ experience every time. Even Google+ veterans may want to revisit their circles and cut out irrelevant or inactive people they have amassed over time.

► You can set up notifications for your most important circles so you never miss a post (click into the circle and turn on/off the bell symbol)
► You can "turn the volume up or down" for each of your circles so that you see more/less posts from that particular circle in your default home feed (click the "settings" (cog) symbol in the circle)
► You can completely mute certain circles so no posts feature in your home stream and you can only see them if you actually click into that circle's stream (in "settings" - as above)

This is just one of many Google+ tips, you can find more tips like this from the #googleplus50 series here:
