I haven't seen this posted in this group, but my friend Foggy Brume is writing another Puzzle Boat, funded via Kickstarter. Time is growing short (9 hours!) until this closes, so buy your ticket now!

A tweet by +Curtis Chen led me to this 2004 article about puzzle hunts. We don't seem to do stuff like this any more ...

+Brent Holman +Linda Holman +Sean Gugler +Rich Bragg and others get mentioned ...

>> EXCERPT

Curtis Chen remembers hauling up a 2-liter plastic bottle filled with concrete from the bottom of a pond and smashing it with a sledgehammer to release a message-encrusted sheet of foil.

Clues have been hidden on broken shards of pottery that required excavating and re-assembly. An envelope filled with live crickets directed players to an entomology lab.

Or how about the time teams were directed to a coffin with a built-in tape recording, by Lake Merritt in Oakland. "And it wouldn't start until someone was inside," says Linda Holman, Brent's wife, "and you closed the coffin.

My company is looking to hire one or more people to help create content for what is essentially a puzzle hunt app, with a historic preservation and local economic development flavor. We're based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and in DC, and looking to expand - both geographically and in terms of the types of puzzles we offer. Check out the listing on WayUp (not limited to student applicants - feel free to apply directly to darren at traipse.co) and forward to anyone who might be interested!

I wanted to let this community know about the "Bay Area Room Escapers" group on Meetup.com.  Upcoming events include:
* Beat the Lock - Secrets in the Attic (Santa Clara)
* Reason - Future Technology Escape Room (SF)
* SCRAP Entertainment - 8 Suspects (SF)
* Golden Puzzle Rooms - The Vampire's Study (Sacramento)
* Skelton Key Rooms - The Magician's Library (Sacramento)
* Escape Sacramento - The Study (Sacramento)
* Escape room crawl of 10 rooms (Los Angeles)
