[SOLVED] -> Wine + RegWorks :)

Ok.. A question like that..
How to retrieve win 10 key under a Linux?
Wingroze is fully legal, all files are on the disc, but this system won't boot at all - no recovery mode, no repair possible. This win is Dead.
I have access to those partition and files from the Linux system.
The trick with:
ls /sys/firmware/acpi/tables
sudo hd /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM
don't work, because there is no MSDM.
This machine dont' have uefi enabled.
Any suggestions?
Ps. I just forgot to write down somwhere on paper this damn key and now I just want to reinstall this windoze completly from scratch.
Ps.2: Please no stupid comments!
Ps.3: Is there any registry editor/viewer that I can run from wine and export some reg keys? This may solve my issue.

Mint 18 Mate & Cinnamon (final stable) are ready for download!

Enjoy! :)

Hi all.
I have a problem..
There is a phone (LG G4, stock rom, no root) and this phone have unmounted his sd card - just so.. without any reason. On this card was a big collection of my wife's photos. This phone belong to her.
Unfortunately this card was initialized again in the phone.
It is any way to access the datas from the previous partition? Some good recovery method/software?
I've tried PhotoRec but it shows only some datas from the latest partition.
I am using Mint 18 Mate, but eventually I can use also windows Seven.
Thnx in advance for any tips.

Nice.. Updated from 17.3 to 18 :)

Ok, ook, oooooookk!

As so many people bomb me on pw with questions about "how to upgrade",
here it is.. I wrote some tutorial for all. :p
Here you have it..

Yes! It is possible now to upgrade Mint from 17.3 to 18.
BTW: This is NOT for the LMDE edition!

Remember, v.18 is now in an ALPHA version and may have some bugs!
This is ONLY for ppl who knows what their doing and who knows how to
workaround some issues! For testing and developing purposes!

All You do, you're doing at your own risk!
Don't blame me if something goes wrong, if your home gonna burn or your grandma's cat fly's away!

I strongly recommend the full system backup before you do something!

Important, before you begin!

1. Amount of the downloaded data is circa ~2GB
2. Your system MUST BE UP TO DATE! If is not, use command:
sudo apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

3. Turn off all non standard repositories!
4. Optional - if you use the kernel which comes not with the Mint system, switch to standard one before upgrade! Just in case!
5. Read the troubleshooting section!

Ok.. Now the upgrade process..

1. You must change the system repos from Mint 17.3/Ubuntu 14.04 to Mint 18/Ubuntu 16.04
Open the terminal and do this:

sudo pluma /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list

and change all entries to those:
(You can backup this file before change anything)

deb sarah main upstream import backport
###### Ubuntu Main Repos
deb xenial main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src xenial main restricted universe multiverse
###### Ubuntu Update Repos
deb xenial-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb xenial-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src xenial-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src xenial-updates main restricted universe multiverse
###### Ubuntu Partner Repo
deb xenial partner
deb-src xenial partner

Next save all changes and close the editor.

2. Go back to the terminal and do:

sudo apt-get update

Wait a bit until the system updates his new repos list
and do a second command:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Wait again until the system ends the packages downloading (circa 1.2GB of datas)

3. Now follow all the instructions on the screen which appears in the upgrading process.

4. At the end Your machine need a restart/reboot.
5. When Your system starts again, you can enable all your previously disabled repos and you can switch back to the non-standard kernel.
6. Some systems need a GFX/modem proprietary drivers reinstallation.
If You have one, do that.

1. On some machines with Cinnamon DE, you need to (re)install the Cinnamon packages by hand after the upgrade:
sudo apt-get install cinnamon
Then make a reboot.

2. Some systems have errors with "libpng" package.
To fix this make like that:
sudo apt-get purge libpng
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then make a reboot.

3. If you get the error like that: "W: Signature by key E1A38B8F144675D060EA666F3EE67F3D0FF405B2 uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)"

Go here:
And try to resign this key like mentioned in the topic.

That's all.

I recently tried to log in to my Mint 17.3 Rosa through remote desktop. I installed tightvnc and xrdp, and had done "echo XXX-session" > .xsession. It was working normally with xfce4-session. But for mate-session, every time after I logged in and launched any application, the remote desktop exited. Even if I do nothing, it exited after a while. I checked the error log and I think these messages are most related:

mate-session: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :10.0.
mate-settings-daemon: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :10.0.
[1458791243,000,xklavier_xmm.c:xkl_xmm_actualize_group/] xmodmap error 256
** Message: Got disconnected from the session message bus; retrying to reconnect every 10 seconds
Window manager warning: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on display ':10.0'.
mate-panel: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :10.0.
caja: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :10.0.
mate-screensaver: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :10.0.

I wonder if remote desktop is supported for mate desktop. Or if there's something wrong with my installation. I installed mate though `apt-get install mint-meta-mate`. Thanks for any help in advance.

[solved] Help needed ;)

I am searching for some working Chrome plugin for downloading
the video media's from the websites. Formats like FLV, Mp4 etc.
The plugin similar to FVD Downloader - which btw don't work anymore.
Ps.: I don't care so much about YouTube downloading.
Ps.2: I don't want to perform any illegal actions with it - to be clear ;)

Thnx for any tips.
