UPDATE rolling out:
Google Now Nearby Photos From Friends

"Brad Brewer posted on Google+ that Google has added yet another Google Now card. This one uses Google+ photos from your friends but based on your current location.

So it will show you photos, as you travel, by your friends in your location. It is called "nearby photos from friends."

Doesn't sound like many/any of the changes are user-facing except for stability/speed.  Update: interesting that it appears to have jumped to 3.0, though.  +APK Mirror link below.

And, yeah, I know this isn't technically a "Google+ Update" now that Hangouts has been broken out... /sarcasm

Today, we're updating the Hangouts app for Android.

Since our last release, our main focus has been to improve stability and performance and we’ve addressed lots of the feedback and suggestions that we get from you!

We've also made lots of under the hood improvements that will allow us to build even more great features going forward.

Enjoy the new release and stay tuned for more!

I would use it more if it had image search built in like Messenger has.

Google+ officially splits into Photos and Streams
Amid Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) restructuring program Google+ will be split into Photos and Streams, giving Photos segment its well-deserved independence and recognition.

Interesting. Thing is I don't see a separate app for these services

Just wanted to confirm that the rumors are true -- I’m excited to be running Google’s Photos and Streams products!  It’s important to me that these changes are properly understood to be positive improvements to both our products and how they reach users.

It's moments like these that it'd be nice to post an image in a comment. I can't even edit the post to include a picture. http://imgur.com/rjmkIcP

Got the update but it looks like the Chrome OS file manager doesn't get the same options :-(

So after following what Francois posted that goes into a newly created Chrome OS Cloud Backup folder just to confuse things.

(Did a quick search; don't believe this is reported here yet.)

Image grabbed from sharing link no longer has jagged edge at the bottom.

I suspect this is done to make linked images look more like "native" images shared directly via g+.

Perhaps has to do with encouraging click through rates?  What do you think?

It seems that Google+ profile is not required anymore to be able to send pictures in Hangouts.

+Kenny Pathos Sure, it seems a good starting. The person that does not have G+ profile can only see that Hangout album.

You can view this on a desktop Chrome with
https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream You'll also need to change the user agent to something like Chrome on iPhone to get some of the functions.

Now maybe the rollout hasn't reached me yet, but I can't see any changes. And there's still very little love for Location. "Nearby" is still as useless as ever.
