This is a bit different from soliciting full blog posts, but it might be helpful:
Since we have 125+ programs are spread across the country, we use our Alt Ed division blog as a comprehensive newsletter and tag posts by center, etc.
To populate the blog, we collect and share good news from center directors who send us summaries and photos of events, projects, etc.
You'd think that compared to asking for full blog posts, this would be a piece of cake. It wasn't.
And then our company started using Podio as our new Intranet platform. We used SharePoint before, which is okay for file storage, but not much else.
Podio has a user-friendly, Facebook-like interface, and now that staff can upload photos using phone apps, our staff is very comfortable sharing photos and quick updates about what's going on in our centers.
Now we have the opposite challenge - too much content! Since centers are no longer in a silo using email to submit news, center staff see what everyone else is posting and make it a point to submit their best student stories and news.
So instead of reaching out to our center directors every few weeks and begging for updates, we can review Podio posts each day for the best content to share on the blog and other platforms. Major win!
