Prof Noakes could have avoided the hearing as he has not practised as a medical doctor for the last 15 years. He could have simply deregistered from the HPCSA as a medical practitioner and would no longer be under its jurisdiction. However, Prof Noakes believes that the hearing is “an important event in the history of nutrition in South Africa” and that the public “has the right to hear the truth about what constitutes optimum nutrition”.

"If you're looking for something that really fits the definition of functional equipment, look no further than these dumbbell racks; borrowing the same principle as a barbell squat rack these dumbbell racks solve the problem of getting those heavy dumbbells into position to do your exercise.

If you're using light dumbbells you may not appreciate these as much, but to those of us who have had to stop using dumbbells in our favorite exercises (i.e. bench presses) because it was just too much effort and actually dangerous to be swinging them into position, that problem has now been solved.

I think they should be standard equipment in every gym, and they'd be very useful for home use too, I heartily recommend them" ~ Bernie Centrella, author, nutritionist, personal trainer J & J Fitness, owner Bernie’s Nutrition Center.

Bench

Overhead Press
4@135lbs
6@120lbs

Dumbbell incline bench
4x7@50lbs
6@50lbs

Farmer's Hold
2x 1:10@50lbs dumbbells

The incline bench was supposed to be 5x7, but I missed the last rep so I did the extra 2 sets to make up for it.

Squat

Front Squat

Straight-leg Dead Lift
10@185lbs

Dips

Aside from only getting 9 reps on the squat, tonight was a good night.

Deadlift

Pull-ups
10@10lbs
8@7.5lbs

Rows
2x7@50lbs dumbbells

2 1-minute Farmer's hold, 50lbs dumbbells

The deadlifts had a longer pause than I wanted in the round of 325lbs. I applied the straps to the bar between reps 5 and 6 and that took about 3 seconds, which would kinda/sorta count as a rest technically, but I'm counting it as an unbroken set. Yeah, I know... I shouldn't.

Bench press
6@195lbs
10@175lbs

Overhead press
3@135lbs
6@120lbs

Incline bench press
5x6@50lbs dumbbells

Dumbbell rows
3@50lbs

I expected a lot more from my bench press and my overhead press. I thought surely I can get 8 @ 195 lbs and 135 lbs, that's gonna be at least 7. Needless to say, I failed to live up to my grandiose ideas.
