Need help from experts across the pond on the Magna Carta. My  students are creating a short video of the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta.  I'm looking for an expert or scholar on the importance of this document.  Students are 6th grade or around 12 years old.  The best day for my class to hangout  would be a Wednesday over the next couple of weeks.  Times all Eastern Standard Times:  9:10 - 10:00 AM EST, and  11:15 AM  to 1Pm.  Any expert available for a Hangout at those time?

Thanks!  Pete Moran

Hello.

Wondering if people would take a quick moment to fill out a survey for our tech director on 1 to 1 and tech fees...

Thanks

Hello,

IF you run a 1:1 model......

AND

IF you have implemented a "Technology Fee" for parents/families....

.........then please consider filling out this form.  We are looking for survey info regarding the implementation of technology fees that are directly related to 1:1 deployments.

Outside of asking for your state, it is anonymous.  The only thing that might give away your credentials are if you choose to share documents with identifiers in them.

For everyone, regardless of whether or not you meet the above criteria, you can see the results here.

Is there an easy way for Administrator (Principal) to share his email with his secretary without giving out all his credentials to them.  I thought there was a way to delegate email only.  IDEAS?

Hi!
Is there already an App, Add-on; Script... which does curriculum mapping?
Most International Schools use platforms such as Atlas rubicon or Managebac to write their curriculum, collaborate and map it.
Is there something already in place on Google? or is there anyone planning to develop such tool?
If it does not exist, what is the process for creating an App for/with Google?
Please let me know. Thanks!

Need help with a gmail issue:

A teacher is sending group email to students in her class using Google mail.  The students are opening up their Google mail accounts and not receiving the emails. They tried refreshing gmail and checking inbox again, no mail.   However, teacher has discovered thru trial and error that if the students open up their gmail account, she can send and they will receive it.  Teacher is using laptop, students are using Chromebooks.

I have a question that I am a bit perplexed by. I have a teacher with a question I don't have an answer... I'm hoping someone else can help. He gave a quiz via Google Forms. Embedded that into his site for the allotted time. He took it off his website and turned off the "accepting responses" and somehow a student was able to take the quiz a week later. Any suggestions?  My mind is drawing a blank.

The only way that I know that this could happen would be if the student had the form open for over a week. If you have it open, even if a change is made, it won't "take" until you reload the page.

What is the link to ur site? Is it Http:\\sites.google.\a\ ..... Then u can shorten this to www . Ur domain name - for this u have to be the admin of your domain - in domain settings - u will have to change it by changing ur CName and DNS settings - Let me know what exactly is the issue .

Friends I need your help with Google forms - this is an online test to be taken by students who have opted for different subjects.

The form is working well in the sense that the questions flow in accordance to the students choice.

The challenge is in configuring Flubaroo ( Ian using autograde) . It takes in all questions across different subjects as part of the common database.

I have in all 320 Qs for 4 subjects , - students need to attempt only 240 Qs for their chosen three subjects.

Now even if a child has all correct answers in his chosen 3 subjects - he will receive the score of 240 on 320 .

Main Query :
1. Is there a way I can work around this other than creating different forms for different subjects?

2. Instead of email results can students see the score as soon as they submit on the same window ?

3. Can we configure the email result differently for different scores - congrats you have cracked it - if they score all correct / u need practice if the score is below say 60% - I hope u get the drift .

My main problem is the first question - need that to be resolved on a priority.

Thanks in advance

Is there a limit to the number of students who can join a Google Classroom? This just in from a language arts teacher in a school with over 1,000 students.

<teacher name> writes:
Do you know if there is a limit to the number of students who can join a class?  I am considering using it for journalism next year to put out the school paper - could all students at Central join one class and have one app that they access to see the paper?

Language Arts -Central Campus

My reply:
I will find out. Have never been asked something like this before, and it is a great idea.

I did suggest that we consider a shared folder in Google Drive in our domain to share out the school newspaper.

There is also a limit on the number of people that can be shared on a folder or document. I think it's somewhere around 500, so that may be an issue as well.

I would also foresee lots of management challenges related to grading, commenting, etc. I would advise breaking the class down into sections/cohorts.

Keynote Address For School Business Officials:

What kinds of things would you mention/describe in a conference brochure description of a Google keynote address to school business officials? I need to write an 8 sentence paragraph description.

They do NOT want to focus on ways teachers and students use GAFE.
They are more interested in ways they can make their jobs more efficient, communicate more effectively.

Attendees will be:
 school business managers
accounting and reporting
budgeting
operation and maintenance of school
food services
purchasing and supply management
data processing
grant applications
insurance
collective bargaining
transportation

I'd appreciate any advice

As a business head this is what i would like to know:

Does this Product save money?
Is it comparable to the best PAID product / service?
How much time will my teachers need to invest in learning GAFE?
What are the tangible benefits that a school can get by using this product.

A school system is based on the pillars of Teaching, Learning, Assessments and Governance. (While GAFE in its present avatar is Not an ERP - most new ERP solutions can be dovetailed into Google Apps.)

1. highlight is how GAFE makes all information and communication seamless.

2. That most Edtech solutions have a singular focus and that teachers get frustrated trying to analyse data thrown up by different software solutions

Give them a scenario :

Today a teacher creates her lesson plan using online solutions - she then mails the doc/ ppt to her collaborators this process takes 15 days for the document to be finalised. She then designs her assessments on a platform or develops it using a database provided ( Literatu / Kaplan/ Princeton) Once she completes her lesson and assesses her students - she has to save her lesson plan on the resources repository and mail the excel sheet of the assessment results to the web administrator. The web admin will then upload the results a day later. Parents have to be notified about the results posted.  Each and every link in this activity chain are disjointed - adding to the teachers workload , with lots of possibilities of things falling into the cracks and parents left wondering if technology was such a bright idea after all.

Since most businesses use Google Apps for Work - many of them will be familiar with the technicalities and the derived applications to the education sector.

All the best
