I found this online resource that will convert text to binary and binary to text. http://www.binarytranslator.com/index.php

I have been told that Google Translate can do this, but I haven't been able to find a way to do it. Is this possible with Google Translate?

Finally a marginal solution for @Google teachers everywhere!
Margins have long been a problem with Google Docs, as many an English teacher can attest to. In this video, Kevin Brookhouser shares how you can marginalize your friends with Google Docs! Enjoy!

Anyone pay for ISTE and/or ASCD memberships? Is it worth it?

I definitely think that ISTE is worth, especially if you plan on attending the conference.

I used to be a member of ASCD, but I found that the magazine subscription was not worth the membership fee and thats all I pretty much used it for. If you plan to attend the ASCD conference, then it may be worth it. I am a teacher, and I found the magazine articles to be interesting and not necessarily just written for leadership positions.

Google Geo really wants feedback from educators on their tools for education. Please provide input and share with others as it will guide their product development and available features for schools.

I am planning a summer technology bootcamp for our district staff.  One of the workshop topics is Chrome Apps.  What apps do you use with your students or as a productivity tool?  Any recommendations?  Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

So...I'm having a frustrating Calendar moment. I am trying to shift an archaic office process to Google and I'd like to eventually script some Forms > onSubmit > createEvent type thing. BUT...when I add guests to a simple test event, the guests do not receive the invitation email and the event does not show on their calendar.

The Calendar training video shows this working seamlessly...why not for me? Am I missing something (probably obvious - sinuses kicking my ass right now)? Is this a dashboard setting?

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Our assistant superintendent uses a Google Calendar. He wants his secretary to be able to make changes to it when he is out of his office and in schools. If there is a meeting cancellation, time change of a meeting or appointment, etc. he wants to be notified of the changes by a text message or other alert without his secretary having to sent the text. Is there a way to do this?

On my own Google Calendar, if I change a Wednesday 8:00 am meeting to Friday, I still get a reminder for the Wednesday morning meeting. Is this a bug in Google Calendar? If so, that could be part of our problem.

Are there competing Google-recognized organizations that offer Google Summits?
I am working through AppsEvents (http://www.appsevents.com/) for the CT summit, but just came across EdTechTeam Global Summits (http://www.gafesummit.com/) today. They look surprisingly similar.

What does this really mean? I downloaded the workflows add on to show admins and noticed this in the you give permission section...
"More info
Send email that appears to have been sent by you (e.g., from your email
address)"

I am thinking you are giving permission for the app to send you document via workflows to the others you've listed to approve the document.

I want to clarify because for some admins who are new to drive it may concern them....

Domain question.. Our school purchased a new domain name which we have set up for our GAFE account.
We were using a different domain when e got started with GAFE in Jan 2013. Now we want to switch to the official domain that we will use going forward ( we will be 1:1 with chromebooks next year)

I know the switch will be messy for those already on the other account. Are there any trips or tricks? I am mostly concerned about the teacher and student drive accounts and their gmail.

Thanks in advance

Hi Barbara - Mike has given you good advice. If you are serious about migrating then you should budget for a company that specializes in the process.  This isn't an uncommon problem - just think about what corporate mergers have to do. That said, it requires expertise. I'd go to the Google Apps Marketplace and shop around, you'll find a number of well rated options there.

I had a teacher ask today if there was a possibility that Google may not have saved changes in a Google Doc.  She has 3 students that say their work was complete and when we look at the revision history, nothing shows up.  Seems strange...

Thank you everyone for your suggestions/comments!  I explained to the teacher what may have happened while students were working.  Hopefully this won't happen again.  Have a great weekend!

Does anyone know if the "Google Apps Education Qualified" certificate is the same as being a "Google Educator"?

I took my five tests back in December for the purpose of applying for Google Apps Certified Trainer, however it also seems that the 5 tests that I took and passed may also qualify me as a Google Educator.

Are you supposed to receive a separate certificate for Google Educator, or are the tests I took too old?

From what I'm hearing from other posts, yes. If you received your Google Apps Education Qualified Individual, than you are also considered a Google Educator. Actually Google Educator replaced the Qualified Individual.
