On the old Google Sites for personal Google accounts I know how to get the Google Site to redirect to custom urls using Add Web Address button in Manage Site. But I can't see how to do this in the New Google Sites as they do not seem to have these function. Am I missing something? Anyone know how to do this?

Changes by Google are going to mess up formMule, Autocrat and other add-ons

It appears that Google has recently made a change to the field that automatically collects email addresses, changing it from <<username>> to <<Email Address>>. As formMule and Autocrat basically create merge messages, it’s still looking for <<username>> and will generate an error in the send status column (e.g. Error: Invalid email: undefined).

To fix this you'll need to go through all of your spreadsheets and edit your templates. Unfortunately, it appears the changes are rolling out arbitrarily (I have a mix of spreadsheets that have been updated).

You can find documents where formMule has generated an error message by searching for:

"Error: Invalid email: undefined" type:spreadsheet

or you can use this link:

https://goo.gl/qa95Nd

It should only affect spreadsheets where you're collecting emails from a domain. However, if you previously had a field called Email Address, you'll probably now have 2.

Does anyone know if you can switch back to the old Google Cultural Institute?

Visiting the website forces you to the new beta version which does not include the ability to create galleries and compare two items side-by-side.
The Google Cultural Institute brings together millions of artifacts from multiple partners, with the stories that bring them to life, in a virtual museum.

This is a survey of interest from Google in having an annual license option vs a life-of-the-device option.

Currently Chromebook management licenses are for the life of the device, however in a 1:1 situation that life is very much shortened. I raised the concern that this is costing our school quite a bit of money since we have a 2 year replacement cycle, and they listened.

Whether you’ve supported Code.org as a teacher, parent, or volunteer, or you’ve just tried one Hour of Code, today you’re part of a historic moment for education in America.

An unprecedented group of over 90 of America’s greatest leaders have joined in a bipartisan message: to ask Congress to support computer science in our schools.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a list like this unite on any issue. It’s especially refreshing in today’s age of divided politics.

Why? Because this is the most bipartisan idea in America. Computer science has become fundamental for every field of study, for individual opportunity, and for national growth. It’s time our schools offered students a chance to learn it.

Polls show 90% of Americans agree on this, but nothing will happen unless our voices are heard. Your representatives must hear from you.

I’ve dedicated my life to this issue, and I’m asking for your help.

Please, see the amazing list of leaders and what they have to say, and add your name too.

Together we can change the world, for all our children.

Thank you,

Tutorial: Send out automated reminders with formMule

If you use Google Forms to collect registrations for workshops, then see how easy you can setup automatic reminders using formMule days before the event!

This video tutorial will show you how a formula can be used to trigger formMule to send out your reminder message. There are 2 formula's you can use. The first one requires CopyDown to paste the formula into each new row:

=if(A4-7<today(),"Send Reminder","Not Yet")

The second one uses the ArrayFormula function to "fill down":

=ArrayFormula(if(ISBLANK(E2:E),"-",if(E2:E-7<today(),"Send Reminder","Not Yet")))

Watch the video to see how easy it is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G4-2jEPzFs

You can get a copy of the spreadsheet in the video's description.

Id down load the app if I was you and have a look at the expeditions. I wasn't quite as excited with them as I expected myself to be. Most only have 6-8 photospheres.

Review your past Q&As from Google Slides

The Q&A from Google Slide's audience tools is an exciting new feature that I've been playing with since it came out. Yesterday I was presenting a session and was showing Research under the tools menu and spotted Q&A History! Sure enough, that's what I found.

Hey Googlers!
My district has been looking at online lesson plan books. Some of us love using shared folders for collaborative lesson planning, but others like the ease of inserting the standards using packaged versions such as  planbook.com.  Is there something out there,  an add-on or extension that would allow teachers to easily choose from and insert standards in a sheet or doc? The simpler the better.  Thanks so much, Liz

Ideas for Google Innovator project

I'm having problems generating ideas for my Google Innovator application. I am not a teacher (although I have taught in the past) but a tech trainer at a university. The training aspect is not part of my job description so the number of hours I have available to commit is limited.

Can anyone suggest some ideas to help me get my own juices flowing?

In advance, thanks!

Hey Trevor. With the new application, the question is, how would you transform education? It's much broader now, compared to just classroom instruction. The question to ask yourself is, what edu problem exists that you would love to spend an entire year on trying to solve? Or another way to say it is, what if your university gave you 20% time to help solve a major edu problem, and the only stipulations were that you had to use your network to help, and you had to freely share your big idea with others to replicate? I think you got this, bro!
