Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Zombies Mode Is Able To Tell A Story Without the Baggage of Previous Games
The Zombies mode is obviously one of the biggest main attractions in any Call of Duty title developed by Treyarch, and we’re sure that will be the case once again in Black Ops 4, even with the presence of a brand new battle royale mode. Recently, Treyarch revealed a bunch of new information on the mode, revealing two new trailers, one outlining the new Chaos storyline, and another showcasing one of the mode’s maps.

Speaking of the storyline, Treyarch has a very clear vision for how they want to approach Zombies mode in Black Ops 4. While speaking with Variety, the studio’s executive producer Jason Blundell and lead writer Craig Houston said that they don’t want to repeat anything they’ve done in the past (which is a philosophy they’re following while designing maps as well), and that as such, Chaos will be a full-fledged story of its own, unconcerned with the past Zombies storylines.

“Each time we start designing one of these maps we treat it like we’re doing it for the first time,” Blundell said. “We don’t want anything to be generalized across modes. The design layout of each map is incredibly different, the Titanic has all sorts of chokepoint hallways while the Coliseum in IX is far more than a typical arena, we’ve shown that in trailers.”

“We’ve never tried to do the same thing twice,” Houston added. “We’re able to tell a story without the baggage of the previous games, we’re not continuing with what happened after Aether.”

Starfield Is The ‘Biggest Leap In Gaming Ever’ – Rumour
We’re all excited about Starfield. Incredibly, ridiculously excited. The concept of an epic open world (open universe?) sci-fi RPG made in the iconic Bethesda style is a salivating one, so of course, we’d all been hyped for the game even years before it was officially confirmed.

That said, we’re now hearing some pretty over-the-top statements about what the game may end up accomplishing. YouTube channel Camelworks uploaded a video on Starfield some time back, in which the game was discussed quite a bit. Interestingly, they also claimed in their video that a Bethesda employee told them that the game is going to be “the biggest leap in gaming ever.”

Here were the employee’s words, as per the video: “Oh man, I wish I could tell you more. But… Starfield is the biggest leap in gaming ever.” Now that’s a bold claim- to say the very least. To be the biggest leap in gaming ever, it would literally have to change the very fabric of this particular style of games. Is it possible? Why yes, it is possible, but in today’s day and age, where the industry is basically built upon improvements and re-iterations, it is also very, very improbable. It’s also worth noting that the Bethesda employee who said this wasn’t named in the video.

We should, of course, be careful about not overhyping a game, any game, way too much. You need not look much farther than something like No Man’s Sky to see what kind of an impact something like that can have even on a good game. But who knows, maybe Bethesda actually have something truly revelatory planned for the game. Perhaps that’s why they’re planning on making Starfield a next-gen game? But if it does end up launching on current-gen systems as well, which is something they haven’t ruled out yet, that should present some complications.

Either way, we probably won’t be learning much about it anytime soon. Even though the game’s been in development for some time now, we’re going to have to be patient about getting any concrete info on it.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey- Ancient Greece Setting Brings Lots of Variety In Visuals And Locations
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is taking the series further back in the timeline than it has ever gone before, more so even than Origins did. Its setting of ancient Greece promises to be an interesting one, and already based on all footage we’ve seen of the game so far, it’s looking absolutely stunning, replete with vibrant and colourful visuals.

According to game director Scott Phillips, who we recently sat down with for a chat about the game, the beautiful visual palette is thanks to the setting of ancient Greece, which brings with it a vast variety in biomes and geographical locations. “When we started looking at Greece, we started researching, ‘What’s interesting about Greece, what’s the best time to set it up?'” Phillips said while speaking with GamingBolt. “It’s a super varied, super beautiful location.”

“We have eight different biomes,” he continued. “From lava volcanoes, to mountain peaks with snow, to the undersea, to the island we had at E3. So, there’s variety in the visuals, and then it’s also a time of war. So, we have [representation of] war as well as the development of science, and art, and writing, storytelling. It was just full of things for us to dig into.”

This isn’t the first time Phillips has spoken highly of the game’s visuals- in this same interview, he also told us that Odyssey is probably the prettiest game in the series. Based on early impressions, I’d say he’s pretty close to the mark. Visuals, however, aren’t the only thing that will be seeing a bump in variety in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Thanks to its new branching narratives and dialogue choices, quest variety is also bound to improve. Whether or not that’s something that actually ends up happening is something we’ll find out for ourself when the game launches on October 5 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Spider-Man Receives Tons of New Info: Miles Morales, Silver Sable, Velocity Suit, DLC, And More
Spider-Man’s had a pretty major presence at San Diego Comic Con this year. Recently, a new trailer was released for the game, that revealed characters such as Silver Sable, while also shedding more light on the role other fan-favourites such as Miles Morales and Mary Jane Watson will be playing in the game.

In addition to that, though, even more information has come out on the game, thanks to a long discussion about it during a livestream with game director Bryan Initihar, Marvel Games’ executive director Bill Rosemann, and the actor who will be playing Peter Parker, Yuri Lowenthal.

They spent quite a bit of time talking about Miles Morales and Silver Sable, both of whom had plenty of screen time in the most recent trailer. Miles Morales, as per them, is characterized in the game pretty much how he’s portrayed in the comics- he’s basically a Spidey fan himself, and it’s looking like the game is going to be focusing on the relationship between Miles and Peter pretty strongly, with the latter often having to lean on the former in times of need. Actor Yuri Lowenthal even said that his scenes with Miles Morales were some of his own personal favourites. Another question about Miles was also posed- will he be a playable character? The answer to that, interestingly enough, was “you’ll find out on September 7th.” So that’s not a no, then. Interesting, to say the least.

Moving on to Silver Sable, she’s going to be portrayed by the actor Nichole Elise. Insomniac and Marvel are describing her interactions with Spider-Man as an “interesting and unexpected dynamic”. The Silver Agents, who’re also going to play a pretty important role in the game, hail from the same country as Silver Sable herself, and their design has also been modelled after her.

A fair bit of time during the livestream was also spent on talking about the characterization of Spider-Man a.k.a. Peter Parker himself, which honestly seems to be sticking very close to what we’ve all grown familiar with from the comics (and other media adaptations). While he’s in the suit, Spidey will be more confident and calm, whereas when he’s just regular old Peter Parker, he will be a bit more awkward- as Peter Parker is supposed to be. His voice and the way he talks to people, in fact, will also change depending on whether or not he’s in the suit- but not in all situations, of course. With someone like MJ he will, for obvious reasons, always be Peter Parker.

Speaking of Mary Jane Watson, some time was also spent on talking about the changes that Spider-Man is making to her character. Though Insomniac have been very respectful of the Spider-Man property, having been fans of its for years themselves, they still haven’t been “afraid to mix it up”. As such, in order to give her more agency, her own motivations for the story she will be a major part of, and in order to include her in the story more organically, in the game she’s going to be a reporter for the Daily Bugle. Of course, we’ve also known for some time that she’s going to be a playable character as well, at least in some capacity, so it should be interesting to see how she’s portrayed in the game.

Another thing that was discussed a bit was the recently revealed Velocity Suit. For starters, they said the suit’s name should give us an idea of what unique abilities it will provide- which, yeah, doesn’t really take a genius to figure that part out. More importantly, though, the Velocity Suit was designed with the mindset that it should be authentic to Marvel properties. As such, they brought in Adi Granov to design it. Granov, of course, has been known for designing the new Black Panther suit, as well as his work in the Iron Man movies, not to mention his illustrations for several covers of the Nova comics.

Black Cat was also discussed- the antihero, whose design will closely resemble her design in the comics, but with a modern twist (so, basically like every other character in the game), will be appearing in The City That Never Sleeps, which is going to be the game’s very first DLC. However, hints for the character will also appear in the base game itself, so be on the lookout for that.

Finally, something else that was said that sounds interesting is that there is still “a metric ton” of stuff from the game that Sony haven’t shown yet, and considering just how much stuff we’ve been shown already, that’s pretty big news. It’s looking like the game will still have a lot of surprises to throw at us when it launches. It’s also been described as “huge”.

Spider-Man launches exclusively for the PS4 on September 7.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Crosses Over With Rainbow Six Siege in Special Operation 2
Say what you will about Ghost Recon: Wildlands, whether it’s criticism for the open world or repetitive missions, but Ubisoft has been supporting it with some pretty great content since its launch. After Special Operation 1 reunited us with Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher, Special Operation 2 will go even further by crossing over with Rainbow Six: Siege. Check out “The Badge” trailer for a teaser of the crossover.

The nature of the crossover is unknown, but like the Splinter Cell mission, it will likely include special Rainbow Six: Siege-themed gear that can be earned. Players will also likely team up with Operators from the multiplayer shooter. It may not be as hyped as Michael Ironside returning to voice Sam Fisher, but we’re still excited. Look out for the full reveal on July 23rd.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ next major update will be out on July 24th. Along with Special Operation 2, it includes new PvP content for Ghost War, the ability to play solo without AI teammates, and the new Ghost Mode. Ghost Mode will up the stealth ante much more, providing players with only one primary weapon and enabling friendly fire.
