On every occasion that I've seen Bobby Hutcherson in the last 2 years, he's been accompanied by an oxygen tank, since he's been battling emphysema for a while now. Consequently, his live performances are getting rarer, and so it's kinda thrilling to see that he'll be playing a couple of dates this month (Jan 23-24) at the Addition.

Bill Frisell brings his new project: Guitar In The Space Age for a couple of dates (Jan 27-28) at Yoshi's. Probably less pure-jazz than other projects, but it nicely references all the crazy threads that he's woven into his long (and very diverse) body of recordings.

I'm told that promo code "GOBBLE" (valid until midnight tonight) gets you 50% off on this gig next week. Edward Simon is fantastic, and anything that features Brian Blade is a must-see in my book.
