I Believe Iris Should be Rated as the 3rd Best Female Companion that travelled with Ash

Why do people hate Iris. If it's because she is a different tone what about Brock he is the most popular pokeboy and he has the same tone. If it's her calling ash a kid. Isn't he a kid? And he has called way worse and be hurt way more. (Pikachu misty I'm looking at u). Is it cause she can't train her Pokemon. Well that is stupid because she did end up understanding it. Is it her goal? Misty had about the same they want to be the master of a type and Duplica did too. So there is no reason to hate her.

I love Iris cause Unova region is lyfe! ^w^

I agree. No shipping is the best but it's the most hated for no reason
This is pretty accurate, except now I'd say that Pokeshipping and Amourshipping should switch positions; Amour is mostly just fanservice while Poke actually has chemistry.
Also Advanceshipping is also underrated, and AshxDelia is underhated as well.
The Negai part is true, because it may not be the best ship, yet it recieves too many hates for dumb reasons.

Okay, so I noticed something about Iris that a lot of people might not pay attention to. Let me know what you think about this.

So, we all know that Iris is the most hated Pokegirl. Most of the people that state why is because of her catchphrase and the way she acted. However, if we dig deeper among the lines, there's actually a reason behind why her personality was a bit harsh, as well as why she used that catchphrase a lot.

I don't know if anyone's gotten far enough into the B/W anime to know Iris's backstory, but I looked it up and it's pretty sad. So, people say that Game Iris is better than Anime Iris, but Anime Iris actually used to be Game Iris when she was younger. She was a very cheerful, determined, and wild child. However, the cause of her change was from the people she interacted with. Iris had tried to make friends, but all the kids thought that she was weird, and they didn't like her personality. This is where her catchphrase comes in. The kids most likely thought that Iris was "too childish," hence giving her the mindset that people would like her more if she was more mature. That probably caused her to stop being her true self until Ash and Cilan came along. She might have also thought that it would keep her from getting hurt later on.

I don't think Iris was harsh on Ash and Cilan at first on purpose. I mean, if you grew up around kids that hated you for your personality, wouldn't you be wary and afraid of the new people you met, too? Ash and Cilan actually saved her from losing herself completely. They both had enough patience and kindness to show Iris that there are some good people in the world afterall, and that they will accept you for who you are. That's when she started to lean back to her softer side.

I also think that Iris's criticism was actually a good thing. Why, you ask? Even though Iris had been through a lot, she always had one thing that never changed: Honesty. Iris would be truthful whether the truth was blunt and brutal or sweet and simple. Nobody likes to hear the cold, hard truth, but I bet Iris knows that it's necessary sometimes (Since the kids of her childhood were just as cold to her). Of course Ash had some faults, so she'd point them out and even sometimes try to help him in whatever way she knew she could. It wasn't perfect, but you gotta respect that she at least tried.

I also noticed something between each Pokegirl's families. Misty has three sisters. May has a mother, father, and little brother. Dawn has a mother. Serena has a mother. Iris doesn't have a biological family. The only father figure she ever had was Drayden, and she was raised by the people in the Village of Dragons.

I think that Iris, out of all the Pokegirls so far, had the hardest life. However, she's probably become the strongest due to her friends and Pokemon. They say that the nicest people are also the scariest/strongest. Iris has been through a lot during her childhood, but after traveling with Ash and Cilan, I'm sure she learned a lot. Her past self never left either, since she's still known to be "childish" more and more often. I don't think Iris is childish, though. I think she's just how a kid should be, and a soft, humble, shy, cheerful, honest, naive, curious (and even partly fragile) kid is what she really is. There's nothing wrong with being a true kid. Iris may arguably be the only Pokegirl who acts her age. She's fun to have around, but knows when to be serious, too.

Also, I don't think she really cares much about what she wears. It's not too showy, and it's not too girly or pretty (You could guess which girls I'm talking about). She just likes what's comfortable for her (Though she does like to wear dresses from time to time). Iris could be considered the true tomboy from this information and all the other information, and also a true Kuudere (Not that she intended to be one).

And I think the final thing I noticed is the fanbase's view of Iris. A lot of people criticize Iris for criticizing Ash, saying that she's a hypocrite since she's also childish and naive like him. To be honest, that's being hypocritical yourself. And it's not her fault anyway. It's her past that began to mess with her head. But again, I don't think many people notice this kind of stuff. Misty, May, Dawn, and Serena get so much praise and love, but nobody actually noticed that Iris is arguably the most relatable and characteristically developed Pokegirl out of them all, and even the strongest due to the games and Anime (Champion in the games, and in the Anime, Drayden once mentioned that Iris had the potential to becoming the Opelucid/final gym leader).

If you hate Iris and bash on her, then you're basically the equivalent of the kids that hated her in her childhood, meaning that you're no better for bashing on her personality since it wasn't her fault in the first place for acting the way she did. And if you hate her because of her personality without knowing of her past, then you're just being ignorant. If you want to hate on someone, blame the kids from Iris's childhood. If it wasn't for them, we would have gotten Game Iris in the anime. Then again, Iris wouldn't be such a developed character without them, now would she?

I think people need to cut Iris some slack, honestly. She's probably one of Ash's greatest companions (possibly rivaling Dawn), and they both would make a great team.
