The idea behind this post is to encourage students to move beyond what they think they know about crime and the criminal justice system from watching television and shows such as CSI. Around the eye I give some examples of how students can open their eyes. For example, what do we think we know about victims of crime, many offenders are also victims and how do our prejudices influence who we regard as victims. I make some suggestions for how students can open their eyes, such as debates, discussions, life histories and reflection. I really enjoyed making the poster as it forced me to think more about what I do and how it can be improved. I like the idea of the eye, but I put far too much writing on the poster. I will know for the future.

EXPLORING PERSONAL PEDAGOGY
DAY 1 Monday March 27
https://plus.google.com/communities/110898703741307769041

I welcome you to our conversation aimed at exploring the idea of personal pedagogy - the particular ways and means by which we, as individuals, encourage and enable other people to learn, develop, create and achieve. Our aim is to encourage you to share your perspectives so that we might gain new insights and develop new meanings for this idea.

Our first question is 'Who has been the biggest influence on your pedagogical thinking and practice and why? These may be people who have taught you or provided you with good and inspiring role models, or who were educational theorists who influenced you through their writings or talks. Professor John Cowan has kindly provided his thoughts on who has influenced him http://www.creativeacademic.uk/creativehe.html

As I don't practice actively as a lecturer/teacher, I don't have the daily practical exposure to a classroom ecology. So in designing my poster I approached this from a broader perspective. I feel this method could be used across disciplines to encourage creativity and foster an open and encouraging ecology, with music recognised as a positive stimulant to creativity. Hope you can all read my handwriting to see the idea I have suggested in the poster, if not I'm happy to expand on this if anyone is interested. Thanks.
