Ice Sunrise

This sunrise shot was taken over Clinton Lake, from the Bloomington Park area. The large ice plates, constantly in motion with the water under them, were making a moaning sound the entire time I was there; a bit like whale sounds. Along with the sounds of constant ice cracking, I didn’t stay out over the ice for too long. HDR stack created in Photomatix Pro; styling was added in Lightroom and textures added in Photoshop. Brought back into Lightroom for final touches.

Still Searching for Amelia

Every year, in Atchison, KS, we still search for and remember Amelia Earhart. We do so by blowing up tons of fireworks and eating junk food down by the river. This is a photo of the Amelia Earhart Bridge, during the Amelia Earhart Festival 2014; taken on the bank of the river, eagerly awaiting fire in the sky. All processing was completed with Lightroom.

Kansas, Oh Kansas

This image was captured in September of 2014, at a field north of Lawrence, KS, probably an hour after sunrise (It was taken at 7:41 AM and I’d rather waste my time by typing this ridiculously long sentence than do a little research as to what time the sun actually rose on that day. I can’t believe you’re still reading this.). What I really like about this photo is the range from white to purple in the clouds. And of course the thin rays of light slicing through the clouds is always neat to see.

Wells Overlook Tower

From http://www.douglas-county.com/depts/pw/pw_countyparks.aspx - “Wells Park was donated in 1971 to Douglas County by William Wells….An observation tower offering  a great scenic view of the City of Lawrence is the park’s main focal point...The park also contains a short nature trail for hiking. Follow the winding entry-road to the top of the hill to enter the parking lot. The park is located ¾ mile east of US 59 on the south side of County Route 458 (N. 1000 Road).”

Autumn at Mary’s Lake

This photo was taken on the west side of the lake, located in the southeast area of Lawrence, KS. The park is a great place to watch nature or to take a nice walk. There are plenty of paved paths and natural trails around the small lake.
