I've started making some videos explaining grammar points (mainly tenses at the moment) for my classes next year, aiming to either recap what has been covered this year or to give a concise summary to aid with flipped learning. I'll be adding to these over the coming weeks and months, but I'd really appreciate any constructive feedback from you guys as to how to improve the quality of explanations and examples. If you find them useful, please feel free to share them with colleagues and students.

I'm inheriting two Y8 French classes next semester, and I suspect over the summer they'll probably have forgotten how to conjugate ER verbs. So I decided to make a video recapping how to do just that.

...now I'll never need to explain it ever again!

I also made a formative to check their understanding of the concept for after they've reviewed the info.

I completed a Nord Anglia University course on making sense of tech in the classroom. As part of that course, we had to make a video. At the time I was about to teach the Immediate Future to my Y7 Spanish group, so I took it as an opportunity to do some flipping and make an instructional video for them.

Do you guys have any other examples of how you have pointed your students to somewhere for pre-learning before you cover it in class?

I quite enjoyed making this video, so if any of you have requests for French and Spanish video-based grammar resources, let me know and I'll take a look creating something else. Similarly, if you have any feedback on how to improve the content or presentation, let me know.

Ta!

Collins Learning recently published a wonderful new IGCSE Malay as a Foreign Language textbook. Building on the support we offer for this course, we will be posting regularly on our new Google Communities page. We welcome any teachers who wish to join and contribute to the page. Best wishes, Tracy.

An interesting online course available: "Dyslexia and Foreign Language Teaching". It's free, but the $89 version does look a bit better.

Hi! Has anyone come across a Spanish speaking artist whose work is out of the ordinary or attractive to 11 to 13 year old students? Similar to the work by this Belgian artist: http://www.boredpanda.com/pencil-versus-camera-by-ben-heine/
