Hey gang! Our monthly meeting for August is on Monday evening. We don't have a presentation scheduled for this one, but there may be some chit-chat about upcoming events like Orca Jam and the Video Game Start-up Boot Camp. Join us for some lazy summer fun!

About this community

LevelUp - IGDA Victoria is a group designed to keep the local Game Design community in touch with each other, share resources, and learn from each other's experience & knowledge. Programmer? Artist? Writer? Sound Technician? Experienced? New? Work alone? As part of a team? It doesn't matter - we are all equals here. Come on down and make some new friends! While we do focus on Video Game Design, we recognize that all games - physical, sports, card, board, etc. - all have valuable and intriguing aspects, and we don't turn anyone away! We are the official Victoria BC Chapter of the International Game Developers Association. For more about the IGDA check out www.igda.org. (And yes, we have an Anti-Harassment Policy)

Hi all! I've started a list of all of the game companies and other members of the game dev community in the Victoria area and on Vancouver Island. Hopefully this can be a good resource for those who are looking for work and for those who are curious about who's making games on the island. It's a work in progress, so please let me know if there's anyone that I've missed or if you would like to be added.

Heads up! Paul Hill has invited our members to a tech talk being held at KIXEYE that you may be interested in. It's taking place on June 5th in concert with the Vancouver Island Java User Group June meeting.

From the description: "We will be talking about using statsd and graphite to measure and chart ALL THE THINGS!!! And how that allows us to ship to production a dozen times in a day while keeping a close eye on the real-time behaviour of our systems. Open to all data nerds. No Java required"
