Up until recently there has been little objective exploration of the horse-saddle-rider interaction. In particular, there was little work on the potential consequences of a saddle not fitting the horse, or the saddle not allowing the rider to sit in a position in which they can ride in balance. Horse crazy kids learn about #STEM in the real world of #horses https://www.horseloversmath.com/how-important-is-a-properly-fitted-saddle/

Grit Ladders: My Secret Formula for Setting Low Achievers on the Path to Success

I celebrate D-minuses. I celebrate class averages that are just barely above passing. Sometimes I even celebrate a kid just turning in a paper. Not because I have low standards. D-minus is not my end goal. A group of kids barely scraping by in their education is far from my definition of satisfactory teaching. http://www.weareteachers.com/blogs/post/2016/03/29/grit-ladders-my-secret-formula-for-setting-low-achievers-on-the-path-to-success
Grit Ladders break large goals into smaller steps, fueling student motivation, creating action plans, and linking short-term progress to long-term accomplishment.

There is an app out there right now that is taking the world by storm. But there is also a math game that has just been created that will do the same in the classroom. I introduce you to Multiplication Go!
This fun, active multiplication activity harnesses students' love for a popular video game and gets them moving and learning their times table!

This is really great information. Last year I had students do power point presentations on endangered animals. This information takes it to another level. I will share with my fellow teachers. What grade level would this information be most appropriate for?

Super cute idea! Students could make these and use them as masks to put on a play. Great idea to share with primary teachers.

Fun (and Friendly) Ways to Prank Your Students

Every teacher knows that a few light-hearted laughs can go a long way in the classroom. Humor engages your students and helps them create a common bond with you and each other. Experts even say that humor actually lights up more of the brain on scans than non-funny activities.  So yes, by telling jokes in class, you are actually helping your students learn! Which makes this April Fool's Day the perfect day to play a little prank on your students. Here are a few ideas to get you scheming—in a fun, friendly way, of course. http://www.weareteachers.com/blogs/post/2016/03/22/fun-and-friendly-ways-to-prank-your-students
