Hi Guys,

Your experience is directly in the space that my organisation is trying to break into.

It is your advice and opinion that I would really value.

Without writing a longer message (which I am certainly tempted to do) explaining my organisation's business model, I wanted to ask how a new organisation like mine can get its voice heard in the procurement community.

Even though our proposition costs nothing and creates new (and potentially significant) value for buyers - we are not able to engage with a single buyer willing to listen, let alone try our proposition.

Whilst I understand that it is always difficult to identify early adopters, it feels like the buyers that we have engaged with are defensive of existing practices (by the way we do not undermine any existing procurement levers), say that they have seen it all before, or may even feel threatened by a digital platform. If we can get past that, they would see that we really are different, and that we would actually strengthen the procurement function rather than threaten it.

Of course - it is also about how we communicate our proposition - but unless we get eyes on it in the first place - we are not able to assess our communication efficiency.

If you would be willing to offer some advice - perhaps I can send you a 1 page explanation in my very own words about us. I hope you would find it intellectually stimulating at least.

Kind regards,
Asif

Oil & Gas Finally Shopping Around

The Oil and Gas Industry is currently struggling to pull itself up after a sustained period of low oil prices. Oil and Gas is a huge industry, employing thousands of people but also sub-contracting a large portion of their materials and components. New scrutiny has been placed on procurement in order to provide more competitive pricing on parts. This has meant new suppliers and new approaches.

The Situation Before…

You might ask why this wasn’t already the case? One of the big reasons why Oil and Gas Companies were happy to pay higher price was the type of components they need. Oil and Gas Components are often complicated and require a high level of machining. They also have to perform in high wear and chemical environments and often require finishing treatments like electro-plating. In the past when prices were high, Quality was the most important factor and so when they had found a reliable sub-contractor many companies would stick with them regardless of price.

What we see happening now…

As a sub-contract manufacturer with a wealth of experience in this sector, Bronte Precision are seeing a rise in enquiries from Oil and Gas. Most interestingly though, we are seeing the same components, for the same end client come from a number of sub-contractors. This is clear evidence that Oil and Gas are finally shopping around for competitive pricing of their parts, obviously this cannot come at the expense of quality. We expect this year that the sector will begin to get busy again, but as it does so we will see increased competition in the sub-contract market.

And the obligatory sales pitch…

Bronte Precision provide competitive pricing on machined parts in small to medium volumes. We focus on high end machining of parts with complex geometries, large surfaces and work closely with a metal finishing company to provide a complete component. We can manufacture parts including; Valve Components, Gaskets, Oil Pumps, Hydraulic Cylinders, Specialist Flanges and more.
