Hello KsOSx community, I came here for some help...

I'm trying to install the OS in my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 (non retina) from a USB drive, but when the USB loads it gives me this prompt:

"Waiting 30 seconds for the devices with label:KAOS_2017103"

And then it gives access to some kind of command console...any help with this?

I need a little help with ufw. Right now i have ufw setup to run at startup and have a basic setup. I have Kodi installed and it works great , but I want to use the Kodi remote but it is blocked by ufw.
I do not know how to allow Kodi remote to connect to kodi without turning off ufw.
how do I do this?

Ok I got it . I just needed a port number.
It was not as complicated as I thought it would be.

About this community

The idea behind KaOS is to create a tightly integrated rolling and transparent distribution for the modern desktop, build from scratch with a very specific focus. Focus on one DE (KDE), one toolkit (Qt), one architecture (x86_64) plus a focus on evaluating and selecting the most suitable tools and applications. All work is geared toward packaging, not developing new tools or applications. Staying fully independent from any other Distribution, inherently means this will stay a small Distribution, working on quality over quantity.

Hi there. I am looking at installing a KDE OS on my desktop computer but I am at a loss as to whether KaOS or Neon would be best. Both are great when I look at the videos and I hear good things about them. I like that KaOS is a rolling release but I am not sure if some of the apps that I use regularly are acceptable to the QT system of things. I use Gimp and Darktable quite frequently. Are they able to be used properly under QT? I use Rhythm box for poscasts but I think there are alternatives on KaOS.
Thanks for any input.

Both GIMP and Dark table are available. Make sure to use the Online Package Viewer, you can search all that is available that way.
kaosx.tk - KaOS - Packages

Also make sure to check the About section on the website, it explains what is available for other toolkits then QT and why.

KDE Applications 16.12.1, Frameworks 5.30.0 & Plasma 5..8.5.1 moved to all KaOS users.
With the release of the latest Frameworks all KDE packages that were build the last week on that frameworks version can now move to all users.
Almost 400 packages were moved so make sure your mirror is fully synced before trying to update your system.

Wine (64bit only) added to the repos. Don't expect it to be very useful since most Windows apps will look for 32bit. But by adding this Wine version, progress can be followed and some apps will run, example below, KaOS wine running Internet Explorer, Wordpad & Irvanview

Second full ISO is up. This should be the final ISO in this test cycle. If no new issues found, expect this ISO to be released as new stable Jan 5.

New tool added, both to the Dolphin service menu as well as IsoWriter. You now have the option to verify the integrity of the written USB flash drive in comparison to the downloaded ISO. In Dolphin, right click the ISO file, select Actions then select Verify ISO Write.

For IsoWriter, you have now a Verify button after the write is done.

How is that with multiple sticks inserted?
Does the tool automatic detect that one with the used ISO snapshot?

I guess its recommended to use one stick inserted, when the check is performed?

+demm yup, Steam isn't a big deal at all, since I'm dual booting anyways. I'd much rather have kaos the way it is without steam than have it less stable and with steam
