KGI reports that upcoming iPad refresh will work with Apple Pencil

According to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will introduce a standard 9.7-inch iPad model on March 27 that supports the $99 Apple Pencil.

The new 9.7-inch iPad give Apple a boost in Pencil sales and Kuo predicts Apple Pencil shipments will double this year to up to 10 million sales this year. KGI’s report serves to give investors clues at which part makers will benefit from increased Apple Pencil sales, but it is the first report in which the analyst makes this claim, albeit without committing firmly.

Mozilla pulls ads from Facebook, demands privacy changes

The Mozilla Foundation has expressed its discomfort at the Cambridge Analytica revelations and announced that it was "pressing pause" on all advertising on Facebook. Mozilla further says that they will return to Facebook, when the social network "takes stronger action in how it shares customer data, specifically strengthening its default privacy settings for third party apps".

Apple is developing MicroLED tech at a secret facility for future devices

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is developing its own MicroLED displays in a secret manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California. The report further adds that Apple is making "a significant investment" in the development of MicroLED displays as a potential replacement for OLED panels currently supplied by Samsung.

> The technology giant is making a significant investment in the development of next-generation MicroLED screens, say the people, who requested anonymity to discuss internal planning. MicroLED screens use different light-emitting compounds than the current OLED displays and promise to make future gadgets slimmer, brighter and less power-hungry.

The MicroLED initiative is said to be code-named T159 and headed by Lynn Youngs, a long-time Apple employee who worked on displays for the original iPhone and iPad, currently working on Apple Watch screen technology.

The secret facility being used from Apple is located in Santa Clara, California and features about 300 engineers designing the screens.

Apple launches "Reserve a Battery" program for iPhone in Canada

Following the discovery of that Apple slows down iPhones with aging batteries, the company is forced to make changes to its battery replacement program. Recently, Apple has reduced the price for its iPhone battery replacement program for older iPhones and even promised a new update iOS update that offers users more insight into their battery's health.

Replacing the battery in an older iPhone can fix any performance issues that might be creeping in, and, with the reduced price, it seems like the popular option for a lot of iPhone owners out there. To help stem the tide of folks walking into Apple retail stores and requesting batteries, Apple has launched a new "Reserve a Battery" program that is currently only available in Canada and not elsewhere yet. Through this program customers with an iPhone 6 or newer can reserve a battery online and have Apple contact them when a battery is available at their preferred Apple Store.
