Here is a good post I found that helps us see the truth about ourselves. It is so true that "I am not a failure." I only experience failures... it is part of our learning experience on earth.

I had a great opportunity a couple of weeks ago to share my thoughts on the blessings of forgiveness.  It was a great experience for me to reflect on the blessings that I have received, and that can be mine as I seek to continually be a forgiving person.

LOL  I like this infographic on why we need not to worry.  What do you think about it?

MARRIAGE IS ORDAINED OF GOD, AND FAMILY IS THE CENTER OF OUR PURPOSE HERE ON EARTH.  I really like the quote about "A perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other."

Marriage is worth defending!  There is so much in the world that is out to destroy families.  Divorce is running rampant and couples are walking away from each other at an alarming rate.  Now, I know that there are some cases where there is heavy abuse, or where one spouse has crossed a major boundary and destroyed trust over and over again, or has put the other in harms way, or their children, or some other choice or act that is so difficult that I would have a hard time saying whether they were right in cutting ties.  BUT, Divorce should be the very last resort, and should always be a result from confirmation through prayer.  Please, stay close to God during these difficult times and involve Him in these crucial choices.

Let's restore the sanctity of marriage.  Men, love your wives, and treat them kinder.  Let's all forgive each other and work harder to protect, heal, and strengthen our marriages.  Those that are not married, prepare yourselves to be the kind of spouse you want out of your future spouse.

I promise that nothing in this world can bring you more happiness than marriage.  Absolutely nothing.

What are some ways that we can all defend our marriages?

HELP US SUPPORT GOOD CAUSES AND CHANGE LIVES!
The Captain of My Soul is a 501(c)3 Charitable organization, and we are always looking for causes to support.  Christ taught, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."  We have been invited to serve and love those around us who are in need (hungry, thirsty, naked, abused, caught in addiction, homeless, etc...).

What causes mean the most to you, and why?

CHECK OUT MIKE'S SUCCESS STORY ON RECOVERY FROM AN ADDICTION TO PORNOGRAPHY.  What are you/or would you be willing to do, to give up, in order to be freed from addiction?  Mike shares what he did.  What it took.  Mike's story is one of many out there of people who have triumphed over addiction.

If you, or someone you know, has a success story and would like to share it with us, please visit http://www.thecaptainofmysoul.com/share-your-success-change-a-life/ and share with us... Anonymity is extremely important to us and so we will make sure your post is anonymous, unless you want us to do otherwise.

WHO IS THE CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL?

I remember reading a poem when I was in Jr High or High School that really had an impression on me. It made me feel invincible…unconquerable. I could do anything. When I was faced with hard things the last two sentences at the end of this poem would run through my mind and I would toughen up and power through. I thought it was within me to handle whatever situation I was faced with, or would be faced with. Maybe you can relate.

It ends "I am the Master of My Fate; I am the Captain of My Soul."

BUT, my perspective has changed quite dramatically lately.  I no longer use this motto as I take on life's challenges.  I found something else that has made all of the difference for me and helped me see the real truth.  See what it was at http://www.thecaptainofmysoul.com/who-is-the-captain-of-my-soul/. It would take to long to explain it all here.

DO YOU SUFFER FROM THE DEBILITATING AFFECTS OF DEPRESSION?  Well, depression is a difficult one to understand.  There are many types of depression.  There is post pardon depression, clinical depression, bipolar depression, etc...  My battle has been with clinical depression.  It is something that runs in the family.  My mother suffered heavily with it when she was a young mother and had to be hospitalized for a few months after giving birth to my oldest brother.  I, myself, have battled with it off and on the past 15 years since leaving home and starting life on my own.  It sucks the life out of you.  It is paralyzing and immobilizing.  And the frustrating part about it is that most of the time you can't even pinpoint a cause that threw you into the downward spiral.
What I have learned over the past 15 years, though, is that there are so many good resources out there that make a big difference for someone experiencing debilitating depression.  One of the biggest resources is simply opening up to those around you and not isolating yourself (no matter how hard it is to get out of bed, or make that phone call).  It is HARD at times, but it becomes EASIER over time as you try and put forth effort.
The experiences I have had with depression, even though they were extremely hard at times, shaped me into the man that I am today, and have helped me see life and people through a different lens.  I recognize that when I am more focused on others and when I am also continually seeking guidance from God and humbling myself, I am able to rebound MUCH quicker, and even AVOID the lows that tend to come seasonally, or periodically.

What gives you HOPE in your future?

HOW HAVE YOU SEEN THE MIRACLES OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE LATELY?
I believe that God is still a God of miracles.  The heavens are still open, and He is very involved with our world... and if we open our hearts to Him, and receive Him as He eagerly waits for us to invite Him, He can be very involved in our lives!
