“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” Colossians 2:13

Jesus Christ through His death, burial and resurrection has satisfied the claims of justice. God so loved you that He was willing to give to us His only Son for you to be justified. It will be contrary to the “law of double jeopardy” for Christ to suffer and for us to suffer too. God is too just and holy to do that. Why then did Jesus come, if I have to pay for my sins? Then, I had better go to hell because I can’t even pay for my sin. But praise God, He paid for it so that I can be justified.

Forgiveness of sin is not a reward you get because you confessed Christ. No! Everything we receive from God is because of what He had already done, not because of what we do. In the Old Testament, they confess sins, that’s what you see in the Bible. In the covenant of law, you confess sins. When the people came to John the Baptist, they were confessing their sins.  In the book of Daniel, you will see where sins were confessed. But in the covenant of grace, He grants you forgiveness without confession. Ephesians 1:7 states: “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Forgiveness is part of your salvation package. We already have it!

Do you know that if there is any sin remaining, Jesus would still be in the grave? He will remain there because the devil would say, there is still one more. He came to take away sin. We must, therefore, do away with sin consciousness. It is a wrong thought pattern for a believer to wake up every morning and think of sin. You don’t belong there!  We are saved by grace and this same grace maintains us to make sure we stand with Him and trust that He keeps us on course even when we miss our mark

“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:7 KJV)

God has given to every person gifts, talents and abilities so that every person can contribute his or her own quota to the kingdom. What that simply means is that every person is wired for something. There is a place for you to function in the kingdom agenda. Your responsibility is to find your place and fulfill destiny. Remember that it is the hand of the diligent that bears rule. (Proverbs 12:24) The days of just warming the seats are over. Get involved at the group level and join a Ministry Arm of your choice. That is one way to get committed. You must be busy. I encourage you to jump on board and let us do the work together. Find your place and begin to serve, because God has given you a specific talent for a specific purpose.

I encourage you today to take a quality decision that someone must benefit from your gifting. You can start from your little corner. If you enjoy singing, start from your group meetings. If you feel inclined to administration, start helping in your group or fellowship to put structures in place. That is a good way to develop your gift, and pretty soon, what started small would snowball to the glory of God.

Don’t fold your hands and think you are not important. You are important. And everyone will certainly give account of the talent before the Giver of all talents. The bible tells us that God is not unrighteous to forget your service to Him. Let me assure you, therefore, that He who brought you this far will keep and sustain you.

I declare that every day, light will shine for you out of darkness. You will not be small. This year will yield her increase for you. Every ground you walk upon will produce no matter the complication. You will take your portion in the land. It will happen for you speedily. I will hear your testimony.

TREM's Wisdom For The Day Devotional

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV)

We live our lives by the grace of God. As new creatures we are saved by grace through faith and not works. So if you are saved by grace, how do you think you can live your Christian life by works? If God saved you by His grace, why do you think you can survive as a Christian trying to live by your self-effort? It cannot work because they don’t agree, they don’t fit. In order for you to live your life by works, then you should be saved by works. But you are not saved by works because nobody can save himself. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. Our salvation is through Christ and what He did on our behalf. He became who we are so that we can become who He is.

Peter, Matthew, Mark were under the law and so some of their writings in the gospel have elements of the law in them. They preached according to the level of the revelation they had. But Paul was not part of them. Paul got raised up supernaturally and revealed what benefits the believer has in Christ. Some of these people saw Christ die and crucified but they didn’t get the reason why He was crucified. They didn’t understand the benefits His crucifixion. That is why His disciples asked: are you the one coming to restore the kingdom to us? They thought his kingdom was of the world. You are not made righteous by the works of the law but by the faith of Jesus Christ.

In other words, if you are living by the law, you will not be justified before God. You cannot be made right with God. And if you are not made right before God then it means you are walking under a curse. I encourage you to consciously live by grace today and every day.

When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? (Luke 7:20 KJV)

The scripture records that Jesus submitted to John and John endorsed him. And when Jesus was later asked, who gave you this power? He said do you remember Pastor John? He is the one who announced Me. They knew John and so they could not stop Him because they recognized John as a prophet. But there came a time when the same John found himself in jail. He was probably expecting Jesus to come running to bring him out of jail. But Jesus didn’t do that. John sent some people to Jesus to ask Him, are you the one we have been waiting for or should we look for another? How could John change his confession because of pressure?

Before you judge, are you like that? A lot of believers are not able to access the blessings that have been predetermined before the foundation of the world because they give up their faith. The pressures of today are meant to hinder you. Of course the devil will not play dead and watch you lay hold on that which God has spoken concerning you without a fight. That is the reason why you must fight the good fight of faith. The devil knows that the only way out is to stop you from laying hold of the blessings of God is to put pressure all around you. He puts pressure on your family, ministry, business, etc. Sometimes you pray and pray and it appears the answer is delayed. The devil comes with suggestions to make you turn your back on God. Beloved, I encourage you to fight the good fight of faith. Don't give in to pressure.

One thing you must settle in your mind is this: it may tarry; but it MUST COME TO PASS. Don’t be carried away by the time, a thousand years is like a day in God’s sight and when the miracle comes, you will discover that the timing was perfect. Hang in there; don’t give in because you will testify.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 KJV)

Today, we live in a world where satanic activities are on the increase. In fact, it seems the devil himself is let loose on earth and he appears to be throwing his weight around in virtually every aspect of human life, giving the impression that he is in-charge, and this affects every area. It affects the economy, the government, and our health amongst others. It comes in diverse ways such that you are tempted to believe that there is no way out. But, I have come to let you know that irrespective of what the devil is doing today, the God that you and I serve is not nervous. He is in-charge! His back is not against the wall. He is not wondering what to do. In fact, the challenge we face, is for Him a stepping stone to your greater height. Everything is in His plan and He is in charge.

However, there is one thing you must know: any time you see the devil putting you under pressure it is because of what God has done in your life. All truth is parallel, just the way no one runs after or tackles the man without the ball on the football pitch, the devil will not come against you if there is nothing ahead of you. The fact that the heat is on is proof that you are going somewhere but the greater news is that there is nothing the devil can do to stop you. The Lord does not react. It is the devil that reacts to what God has done. Remember that during the birth of Moses, Pharaoh decided to kill every male child born to the Jews. The reason why Pharaoh did that was because a deliverer was born. But, he could not stop God’s purpose. When Jesus was born, Herod killed all the male children aged two and below. But, he couldn't stop Jesus. No matter what the devil does, he cannot stop God's purpose in your life. The plans of God concerning you will be fulfilled. Don’t be afraid, be bold and confident; you are on the winning team and your victory is assured.

In righteousness, thou shall be established. Isaiah 54:14

There are revelations in the scripture you must be established in. You must be founded in them. You must stick and secure yourself in righteousness. As long as you don’t understand righteousness you cannot function as God on earth and yet that is God’s intention. He wants you to rule over your circumstances. When the devil attacks you, he attacks the image of God. Righteousness was bestowed on you so that you can do right.

The devil’s assignment is to damage your understanding of righteousness. We have been taught over time to believe that ‘I have to do right to be righteous’. That is taking it backwards. You don’t have to work for righteousness, it’s a believers’ DNA. We are made in the image of God. God made you righteous so that you have a right standing with Him. Adam hid himself from God because he sinned. If you hide from God, who will help you?

Child of God, righteousness is your bill of Rights. You are to wave it in the face of the devil at every point in time. Righteousness was given to you so that you can stand before God without any sense of sin, inferiority or condemnation. You are to stand before God as if sin does not exist because once you are a believer; He forgives and forgets your wrongdoings.

Your personal works of righteousness are like filthy rags before God. They are dirty; Isaiah 54:6. If your personal works are dirty, then you cannot afford to neglect the free gift of Jesus - the righteousness that gives you freedom to approach God boldly.

Live in this knowledge today and put the devil to shame. It is well with you.

TREM'S Wisdom For the DAY.

And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water. 1 Samuel 30:11 (KJV)

In the journey of life, God is so humorous, he can put the answer you are looking for in the hand of a servant. Don’t look down on anyone. Be open to all, ready to help for you never know who you will need tomorrow.

On Tuesday, we read the story of David being robbed by the Amalekites. He had an assurance from God to pursue the enemy that he will overtake and recover all, but God never told him of the Egyptian on the way. Put on your imagination for a second: what would have happened if David had killed the Egyptian or even ignored him? Did God assure him that he will recover all? Yes He did; but I doubt if David would have realized that promise if he had despised the Egyptian.

Child of God, no one is an Island. You need people if you must succeed in your journey of life; so make it a habit to be nice. Be courteous whether you know the person or not. There are times that riches actually come dressed in rags. The cleaner today might be the answer to a major challenge tomorrow. The child you help through school today, might be the doctor that will save your life tomorrow.

David picked up the Egyptian, gave him food and water and he became the compass to find the enemy. Let us flip the coin, can you imagine if the Amalekite did not abandon the Egyptian? They thought he was useless, they left him to die, but he became the link David had to find them. Learn from this story, never leave a wounded soldier to die. Your brother or sister may have missed it and appear wounded, lend them a helping hand. You never know what life will throw your way tomorrow. Don’t despise anyone, everyone God has brought your way is for a purpose, be sensitive and don’t throw away your helper unknowingly.

And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. 2 Kings 5:4 (KJV)

Yesterday, we looked at not despising anyone Our scripture for today is the story of a “great” man, a captain, a mighty man, yet a leper. He had all the necessary accolades, but he was a leper. I am sure he had concluded that he would die in his leprosy, until he came across a little maid. The Bible did not just call her a maid, but qualified her as “little”. I am sure this maid was treated well in the house of Naaman. Though a maid, she could talk to Naaman’s wife and give an opinion. That goes to some people whose subordinates cannot talk to them. Beloved, no matter how high you get in life, never get to a position where no one can talk with you or give counsel. Realise that what she was talking about is a no-go area - a challenge in the life of the mighty man that ordinarily she should be afraid of ever talking about. But the niceness of the mistress to her must have compelled her to offer the advice. She realized that no matter what she said, the mistress will look beyond her size to read her heart. Because of the way she had been treated, she felt compelled to also give back and that led to the restoration of Naaman’s health.

Even Naaman, when he got to Elisha and was told to dip 7 times in Jordan was vexed and refused, but his servants prevailed on him and he obeyed. That speaks volumes about this mighty man.

Stop and think; those around you, will they look for opportunities to help you or to destroy you? The maid in your house, the subordinates in your office, the younger people in your locality, how are you treating them? It is food for thought. If you are wanting in this area, ask the Lord to help you and consciously work on it, remember, we all need each other. Life is all about interdependency. We all need one another.

TREM's Wisdom for the DAY

… but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV)

Quite early in the year, I feel impressed to challenge you to break free from negative emotions. Understand that life is never one-sided; just like a positive terminal on its own can never produce power, the same with life; you need the positive and the negative to come together to produce power. You have a duty to learn to manage the seasons of negativity so that power can be generated from them.

Your emotion is God-given, but it is within your control and your emotion goes where your thought goes. So consciously think about what you are thinking about; because your thoughts will produce after their kind. In other words, be conscious of your thoughts. If your thoughts are negative, they will drive you far away from the destiny God has in store for you because as a man thinketh in His heart, so he is (Prov. 23:7)

David had seemingly lost everything he ever had to the Amalekites. Not only had he lost his wives, children and animals, as bad as that was, he had also lost the trust of his men to the extent that they thought of stoning him. What can be worse? But David did not sit on the floor to wail and wallow in self-pity. Yes he cried, but he did not stop at crying. It is okay to cry, it is a display of emotion, but after crying, wipe your face and like David, seek the Lord. Though distressed, David sought the Lord and guess the result, he recovered everything that the enemy stole from him.

You might not have encountered any negative event yet, don’t throw this word away, because some time in life, some things not too palatable will happen. When they do, remember these words and encourage yourself in the Lord. You may be in the middle of negative situations right now and you are about throwing in the towel, I challenge you to hold on, encourage yourself in the Lord and like David you will surely recover all
