Save Gmail Attachments directly to Google Drive

Google has released a new Gmail  feature that allows you to save any attachments that you receive directly to your Google Drive without ever leaving your Gmail Inbox.

How it works

When you open an email with attachments, you’ll see new previews of the files at the bottom of the email, from photos and videos to spreadsheets and PDFs.

When you click on one of those previews, a full-screen view of the image or document will appear. You can read, search for a particular phrase, and even browse through multiple attachments right in Gmail.

You can now also save your attachments directly to Drive simply by clicking the Drive button that appears when you hover over the preview. Of course, if you prefer to download the attachment to your computer, you can—just click the arrow button.

Google has released a new Google Calender function for Google Groups. When  an invite is sent to a Google Group the attendee list will update as people join or leave the group.

When you join a Google Group, you will be added to all of its meetings. And if you leave a group, those meetings will be removed from your calendar.

Desktop Notifications

Turn on desktop notifications to see an Outlook style window pop up each time you get new email when using Google Apps with Google Chrome.

To enable these notifications:
Go to Mail Settings and in the General Tab you can switch on Desktop Notifications. You can choose to see a notification for all new mail or just important mail (if you are using Priority Inbox this is a handy option).
