International trade political cartoon by Donglihan.com

The political cartoon depicts a caricature of Malcolm Turnbull as he is cycling on a unicycle of recession and holding a suitcase labelled "mission to China" whilst balancing human rights and a fat bag of money labelled "Trade $".

The cartoon is mocking our prime minister as there has been a recent controversial issue regarding China having more freedom to invest in Australia than the other way around, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said in the wake of a crucial meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

This issue affects the direct investment of Australia's financial account as there has been an increase in Chinese investors purchasing Australia's land, in which profits are being sent back to the foreign owners as dividends. Chinese investors are becoming an important player in our economic system they are our number one trading partners.

In regards to the cartoon, Malcolm Turnbull seems to be choosing profitability over the rights of Australians and seemingly avoiding the issues that are closer to home such as unemployment, pensioners, Australia suffering a large deficit and Australia not committing to environmental treaties signed at the United Nations Conference. Our prime minister is depicted to be riding a unicycle that is labelled "recession", this may be implying that Mr. Turnbull is balancing on a very fine line in which one wrong move can put Australia back into recession.
