Difference between Synchronous and Asynchronous Postback?
In Synchronous postback, complete web page is sent to server and in return rendering the output (i.e. complete page), whereas in case of Asynchronous postback, partial page goes to the server and renders only partial (required) part of the page.

Brief Usage of Global.asax

Global.asax is basically ASP.NET Application file. It’s a place to write code for Application-level events such as Application start, Application end, Session start and end, Application error etc. raised by ASP.NET or by HTTP Modules.

There is a good list of events that are fired but following are few of the important events in Global.asax:
1. Application_Init occurs in case of application initialization for the very first time.
2. Application_Start fires on application start.
3. Session_Start fires when a new user session starts
4. Application_Error occurs in case of an unhandled exception generated from application.
5. Session_End fires when user session ends.
6. Application_End fires when application ends or time out.

+Mark Baldwin agreed. I was just pointing out that While he made some good points I disagree. And I was not throwing around "buzzwords". As you so described. I was just describing how we mitigate the problems and that there were other options out there than that article. I do not have time or interest it getting into a confrontation screaming match. If you decide to have an intelligent and civil discussion. That's different.

Personally I don't like this approach, you should look into Effort, it's a tool for making in memory representation of your DB. Here's the link https://effort.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Create%20a%20fake%20DbContext%20instance.

Thanks .NET 4.5.2! I bless HostingEnvironment.QueueBackgroundWorkItem, i'm bored using cache expiration to schedule small tasks (and pray the good iis not to recycle the pool).
