SqlDependency example: is there a memory leak?

Look at the short article called "Database Change Notifications in ASP.NET using SignalR and SqlDependency" http://goo.gl/L2iza.

SignalR part is not relevant to my question.

In a comment below article Bob said, "it has a serious memory leak. it registers `dependency_OnChange` per each request and it will never unregister it".

Looking at the code it certainly seems that way. But Microsoft uses the same approach in MSDN example http://goo.gl/lMUarp.
So, is there a memory leak? Or does compiler optimizes behavior of 'new' operator  behind the scenes so that the same dependency object is reuse in each request?  Otherwise after GetData() is executed several times there would be multiple notifications generated by each single data change?

It is common that we have to avoid subscribing multiple event handler. Furthermore, it is a web application, every request comes in, it will subscribe new event handler.

Subscribing event is like creating a new pointer or memory reference to a delegate method. Keep subscribing the same event handler repeatedly would cause reference lost to previous subscribed event because the new handler would overwrite the previous handler. The previous handler will become "orphaned" or known as memory leak.

Although I believe garbage collector would do the job in clearing it up after some time, but I would say unsubscribing an event after used is a self discipline in doing the right thing in coding.

This guy, Abhishek Sur, posted in code project, had done the same thing:

Getting Started with ASP.NET MVC 6
The next version of ASP.NET (“ASP.NET vNext”) has been re-designed from the ground up. The goal is to create a lean and composable .NET stack for building modern cloud-based apps. This tutorial describes the new ASP.NET MVC 6 framework, which unifies MVC, Web API, and Web Pages at http://owl.li/yDyG9

Hi!
I'm trying to create a EditorTemplate for an object i ASP.NET MVC.
In one view where I'm calling it, it generates id-tags like i should in the HTML, but in another view it doesn't. Anyone know what could be my problem?
In both views create EditorTemplate from a ICollection og my object class.

Which of the id's is it that's not showing up? If your not getting into an if branch when you think you should, have you tried debugging, stepping through, and keep a close eye on the locals/watch panel.

I've been learning asp.net over the past few weeks when I have a minute and came across a strange problem that had a easy fix. Took me a long time to find it,and I'm sure others would have known the fix instantly. A very brief intro to this problem is that I use mvc with razor syntax. My model was simple. A few strings and a list of test items. The test items was a simple class with test description, key, and result. I made a editor template for it. First error I hit was that you have to have a default constructor. Easy fix. Then much to my surprise when I would submit my form and validation failed my test item description would be null. Scratching my head for a few hours and I found the HTML helper "hiddenfor". Put 2 of those for key and description, and now it looks correct. Now I just have to figure out why my validation messages are not showing for each test item. Just thought I'd share that right quick.

Account Confirmation and Password Recovery with ASP.NET Identity
A local user account requires the user to create a password for the account, and that password is stored (securely) in the web app. ASP.NET Identity also supports social accounts, which don't require the user to create a password for the app. Social accounts use a third party (such as Google, Twitter, Facebook or Microsoft) to authenticate users. This tutorial covers the following:

1. Create an ASP.NET MVC app and explore ASP.NET Identity features.
2. Building the Identity sample
3. Set up email confirmation

Get the tutorial here at http://owl.li/yTsk4

Have you been using Cucumber/SpecFlow? Ever wondered why there is not a friction-less library in .NET to do BDD and browser automation? There are options available now.

In the post I talk about using #BDDfy and #FluentAutomation together to achieve browser automation in BDD style with least friction

I had a problem with FA.  The code to click a link and wait did not wait properly for the page to render the page object which verified that the browser had arrived at the page.

I went back to the Selenium code and it worked properly.  My code is in the reported issue.
