Susan

In the Valley of Decision

Trust.
Faith.
Belief in You.
Not things seen.
Not things touched.
Not things handled.
But You.
You.

Voices.
Echoes.
Deafening.
Piercing.
Crying out from the past.
Lies.
All lies.

Uncertainty.
Fear.
Doubt.
Arising from a place of confusion
And Double-mindedness.
Unbelief.

Seeing.
Beholding.
Touching.
Feeling.
Encouragement as You gently prod.
Peace.

Truth.
Absolute.
Untainted.
Unsoiled.
Pure.
Sweet fellowship with One Who loves,
And is Love.

Perfect peace.
Razing fear, doubt, and confusion.
Engulfing lies.
Inaugurating Truth.
Belief.
Freedom.

In Christ

There is no color.
There is no class.
There is no size.
There is no scale of beauty.
There is no sex.
There is no title.
There is no example.
There is no age.
There is no status.
There is no importance.
There is no performance.
There is no ability.
There is no talent.
There is no achievement.
There is no superiority.
There is no intelligence.
There is no degree.
There is no handicap.
There is no greater.
There is no lesser.

For You have striped all of that away,
And declared us all one In Christ.

All have value and worth.
All are beautiful, necessary and needed.
All are talented and able.
All are whole and healed.
All are loved and adored.

For You are the Great Equalizer.

rest is my new theme....striving was my groove-less living.

"Why do you look for the living among the dead?" Luke 24:5b

This question struck a cord in me this morning.

So many times we look for our "needs" to be met among things that are dead - or - that are lacking in real power to meet our need.

We try to fill our emotional hunger with things like shopping, eating, social activities, gaming, TV viewing, drinking, drugs, sex. The list is endless.

But each of these "things" lack the power to truly and fully meet our need. They are, in a sense, dead. Powerless. Impotent.

We need to seriously ask ourselves what dead things we are personally seeking. We need to question why we are using dead things to meet those needs? Then we need to make a conscious decision to choose to seek the Living One as the only Source of Life that can and will thoroughly meet our need to the uttermost.

Hunger

Deep need.
Emotional famine.
Wanting to be seen,
Really seen.

Invisiblely visible.
Intentional slight.
Reopens the wound,
Baring the soul.

Sent spiraling down
Into the dark abyss.
Overwhelmed.
Engulfed.

Scraps.
Fragments.
Morsels.
Yearning for more.

Oh to be seen!
Really seen.
Acknowledged.
Valued.

Stealing

Lack.
Neglect.
Meanness.
Spite.

My experience.
My reality.

Abundance.
Excess.
Greed.
Waste.

But not for me,
Not ever for me.

Conformity.
Yes, when no is meant.
Compliance,
As if without will.

But I had a will
And I used it.

Manipulating.
Sneaking.
Lying.
Taking.

All to meet the need.
Yet forever unfulfilled.

Void.
Emptiness.
Sorrow.
Shame.

Desperate to stop.
Impotent to do so.

Grace.
Forgiveness.
Provision.
Rest.

As I look to You,
Only to You.

Waiting

Spinning.
Twirling.
Standing still.
Stagnate.

Forgotten.
Unseen.
Called out.
Embarrassed.

Anxiety.
Fear.
Shame.
Retreat.

Cowering.
Hoping.
Daring to believe.
Insecure.

Awkward.
Frustrated.
Agitated.
Irritated.

How long?
